Got a cobra (FFR) bought it last year and went to dmv with pink slip in hand and got it registered as a 65 ford. someone told me I should register it with the SB100 registration. How would I go about doing tht now? All I had was a notorized bill of sale and a pink slip and current registration. Thanks

John,

Here's a great thread regarding the SB100 process.

SB100 newbie question

And another step by step resource.

http://groups.google.com/group/alt.a...nd+sb100&pli=1

Here's a link to the DMV site regarding the forms.

http://www.dmv.ca.gov/vr/spcnsreg.htm

Was your car previously registered in CA as a 1965 Ford or did you fill out docs to register that way? You're best bet would probably be to make an appt at the Santa Clara DMV when Jody (SB100 guru) is there, tell her that you want to re-register the car under SB100 and find out what you need to do.

They found 50 sb100s.
I think they even had some surface rust from sitting around.

Heard it was a "barn find."

That's odd, I heard you might find them in a field with weeds growing out of them!

Congrats Jim! Great news for any CA residents who want to register their car under SB100 now and not have to wait until January 2010.

Are you saying that there are 11 left because that's the number they told you?

Or, are you saying that there are 11 left because you received #489?

Just curious. Thanks.

Good point, since the numbers are not distributed sequentially. So...there may be more than 11 left.

The numbers are not distributed sequentially on Jan 2nd (or whenever the first day is), but they are afterwards. On the first day, they distribute the 500 number to five different phone personel in Sac. Person 1 has number 1-99. Person 2 has 100-199, and so on. So it depends on which of the five personel the DMV you are dealing with happens to get o hold of. After the "rush" they just go in order until they are gone (which I do agree previously was in the afternoon on the first "rush" day.

Just taking a stab here, but 490-500 could have been given out already and they may held back 1-10 or whatever sequence of numbers. I think anything is possible. Just because 489 was handed out, doesn't necessarily mean 490-500 are left. What does the DMV say?

Good point, I was assuming that they are now handed out in order. However from that previous post regarding the blocks being distributed to 5 different people at DMV, there may be more than 11 left.

Supervisor at DMV said she got a memo that 85 numbers wer left as of two weeks ago.

Go get em till they tell you to stop.

Just got my Stamped SB100 in the Mail Saturday for my CSX.

You just know they want these SB100's taken up. It equates into tax dollars and ongoing registration dollars. Not that it will reduce CA's deficit but every bit counts.
