This doesn't mean I can't appreciate a modern NASCAR dry sumped 351 killer motor with modern suspension in a modern replica. Or any other number of modern features, especially as it concerns safety related items (like hiddeus dual roll bars, Pat). All though, that is marginally better than wide single or worse yet a roll cage. I see the point, is it OK if I don't care for the look?

I'm coming along slowly, I did after all, bite the bullet and put a 5 speed trans in. I had to shower three times to get the stink off, but I did it....

All I know is, these SAAC officials better be inspecting engine compartments for any BBC's or SBC's in all cars. No admittance!

Maybe we can have the AZ Cobra Club at the gate pull some of their guns on these Chevy people just in case there's trouble.

(Just so that there's no misunderstanding, I'm kidding around).

A 5-speed AND a cup holder? Ernie, Ernie, Ernie. Tsk. Tsk. Tsk.

When are you planning to dump that cast iron block? Then you will have completely transformed to the Dark Side (cue Imperial March).

Just let her drive and you sit in the passenger seat. You know, if for some reason a lot of guys on here have never ridden in a Cobra when they were not the one behind the wheel, it's pretty damn scary. Much, much scarier than when you're behind the wheel.

"Assolutely" as Jamo would say. Next.

In fact, I may just pull out the passenger seat. It's a waste anyway. Might as well increase the power-to-weight ratio.

That was a to harsh Pat, MY comment about the dual roll bars. Actually, they don't look bad at all. I really don't care for the single wide roll bar hoop look though, or the roll cage look, but I understand the reasoning and it's hard to argue with.

Interesting side note on that recent BDR thread about the Vintage race the factory entered their car in. Factory rep said they purposely removed the various air dams, wings, scoops or air foils so the car would have a more vintage look. Now I really appreciated that and have to say "thanks" to BDR for understanding some basic issues as it regards the "vintage look".

Racing in a spec class, is one thing, racing in a vintage class, well, you really need to maintain at least some standards. Fundamental look is a good place to start.

Got to love these two bagger threads.

Solid entertainment with a character study attached.

At least it's a big block in a big block car...

Now where is that thread about the 283 powered AC aces that pre-date the Cobra? SAAC might turn one of these away at the gate, but I could care less what SAAC thinks, it's not a Shelby and neither is mine.

Hell, my 482 has maybe one part from Ford in it. But it fits with the overall theme of my Polish copy of a British sports car that's been "tweaked" by a bunch of crazy Mormon gear-heads in Utah. It merely resembles a Cobra, and the un-informed will think it's a Cobra. I refer to it as a Cobra on occasion just because it takes to long to explain what it really is.

Can't understand why everybody is so down on which engine is under the hood while some of the bodies look like gd fire engines with all the crap on them. And what about the modern trans w/overdrive? Is that not just as incorrect? I myself like the original look and prefer the cars that follow this theme, but I don't think those who live in glass houses should throw bricks.
Just my thoughts on the 'engine' thing.

I don't know. I have a warming drawer in my cobra. Some would call that excessive. I call it my glovebox.

Oh come on now. Glove box? That is just plain wrong. What's next? Portable BBQ in the 12V outlet?

I have a 12v outlet, but I need to remove the passenger seat to install the BBQ. That was a good suggestion of yours.

Everyone knows that the 12V outlet in a Cobra should be plugged with an LED Voltmeter.

Not if it was one of those George Foreman grills.

If we're talking about BBC's in Cobras, then what about non-stock paint jobs like Patrick's titanium paint with black stripes. I don't remember any "original" Cobras being painted in that color scheme.

It's not titanium; it's beige. And it was available on original Cobras. No one simply afforded themselves of that option.
