Hemi in a '57 Shoe box car? Excellent! Ha Ha, way better than seeing yet another run of the mill Vette motor in there, that's been done way to many times already. I do enjoy seeing an perfectly period correct small block in a shoe box car, especially a rare Fuel Injection model.

Ford flat head in a '57 Chubby? Uh, no, that won't work. Rat Rod? Perfect! I saw an early 50's Chevy (I never did care much for that particular body style myself) with a small block Ford in it. OK, at first I was a little startled, but then I just had to chuckle, 'cause THATS something you don't see everyday. The intense metal flake gold paint job was ridiculous though... BIG flakes of gold in there.

Some combinations are good or even great, other's, eh, not so much.

Easy Steve. I got feelings you know. Now let me see where i put them. So what if i put Wildwood brakes or a Griffin radiator or MSD ign. or ect? That's not what was on the Shelby Cobras -- was it? What about 17" wheels with radial tires???? I say each to his own. I like them all! My favorite is the Polished alum KIRKHAM REPLICA w/ brushed stripes. The next time i get $115,000 sitting around burning a hole in my pocket -- I'M BUYING ONE!

You can tell 'em it still costs more than anything else here. Not too many million dollar cars out-and-about this evening.

There's a Cobra on Cobra County with a Viper V10.

Sorry, I kinda like it.

It's to bad that Viper V-10 sounds so anemic, and apparently there is little or nothing you can do about it. It is what it is, never the less, it is pretty cool, in a Cobra. I saw an English replica Cobra with a Jaguar V-12, now that was pretty cool. Dressed up real nice too. Thats a nice fit, an English motor in an English inspired ride, a certain symetry there.

Have you heard a modified Viper with Belanger headers and catback exhaust. They sound scary enough for me.

No, not a V12 Ferrari or a Cobra with FE, but still scare the you know what out of me.

When I was at E-M I tried talking Brett into designing a Cobra with a GMC Typhoon all wheel drive system powered by a Buick GNX turbo V-6. He never took me seriously, but I thought that thing would scream. Talk about a Frankenstein!

There's probably a good reason for that. Generally hot rodders are trying to improve the performance of a vehicle, not go the other way.

No reason for Chevy guys to install vastly superior and more powerful Ford engines when this is their idea of drag racing....

It's been the slowest around here that I can remember in years. All we've had is a couple of ERA builds. It's time to start dredging up old threads....

In that case they would have gone with an FE cammer

A small block Chevy 383 or 396 stroker would be awesome in a Cobra. Just have to keep the hood closed when out & about. Maybe custom welded rocker covers...who would know? I wouldn't hesitate if I wanted cheap power. 5k gets you maybe 650 HP in a sbc. double or triple that cost for a Ford engine, more for a FE. Sometimes it's just about economics.

Yep, you're right. Maybe we should start another one of those ubiquitous threads where outcome is fait accompli, you know, kinda like another "magnesium wheel thread." Just for old time sake.
