I think "all engines other than FEs suck" is still too broad. It should be "all engines other than 427-based FEs suck" and "Cobras with more than one roll bar suck" should also be incorporated.

She's out of the bag and, sadly, the bag is in the trash. A very small drip of clutch fluid from when I R&R'd the master cylinder last year created a nice puddle of fluid over the last five months. Not quite enough to let air in the system, and it appears to be nothing more than a loose hose clamp, but I can't reuse the bag... so I tossed it.

Weighs approx. 200lbs. less than a Big Block 427FE.

How about we throw the LS7 in the mix.

427W: "Weighs approx. 200lbs. less than a Big Block 427FE."

LS7 weighs approx 400 pounds (458 pounds fully trimmed) which is about 120 pounds lighter than an iron head 351W based motor. However the gap is a little closer if you run alloy heads.

427W: "Improved internals over factory 351w. (Forged Connecting Rods, Crank and Pistons)"

LS7 has Titanium con rods from the factory, 6 bolt main bearing caps, factory dry sump etc.

427W "Same Dimensions as 351w."

LS7: Smaller than 351W

427W "Approx. 2-3 inches less in Width and Height than 427FE."

LS7: Approx. 2-3 inches less in Width and Height than 351W

427W "Huge Torque increase over factory 351 engine (500+lbs. when built properly)"

LS7: 475ft/lbs factory stock. This is a conservative factory rating. Dyno tests of stock crate engines have shown this number to be closer to 500. Add a cam and that number will jump to well over 500ft/lbs and 600+ HP.

No argument here, but there is one minor difference you overlooked. When I park at the local watering hole and get the inevitable "what's under the hood?" I can proudly pop the latches without fear of "you ruined it!"

Just saw your avatar Tin-Man. I spent a lot of time working up in China and saw heaps of those big diesel tillers chugging along the road with a big trailer on the back. Invariably with about 5 ton of rock piled on it too.

Yesssssiiiirr... Does right well nestled between the carbon fiber fenders of my Z06 A tune and headers yielded 509 at the tires, sad to say 30 more HP than my KC all aluminum 482" side oiler laid down.

Sorry though... BB side oiler (or at least a FE) all the way in a Cobra. But... I do understand the emissions, gov't red tape, import laws etc, etc... that you're faced with. In your shoes, I probably would go the same route. The LS7 is one mean mutha

I worked all over China back in the late 90's. From right up north in Harbin and on down south to Hong Kong.

I was thinking about it the other day and here's a list of the cities I've worked in as best I can remember.
Harbin, Yantai, Shanghai, Beijing, Nanjing, Suzhou, Fuzhou, Xiamen. There may have been a couple of others. Some of the guys in my team got as far west as Urumqi but not me. I got to go to Harbin in the winter. Everyone assumed I was Russian since it's so close to Siberia.

I was working for a company deploying optical fiber and telephony equipment.

I went back a few years ago and the place has really changed a lot. Cars everywhere and not nearly as many bicycles.

Where are you based?

You know this all sounds great, the only problem I have is, does anyone remember the last time a Chevy won the Engine Masters Challenge? I know my memory isn't what it use to be but I can't think of any.
