One thing I've noticed. If you look at cobra replicas for sale, the ones with cheby engines have about have about half the value. Hmmmmmm. Why is that? Better motor, lower value? I tend to doubt that. Authenticity? I don't personnally know anyone who has a cobra replica which is even close to being authentic.

Tho I am not sure about your reasoning, as most of the companies sell cars without engines - and they can go as high as $180,000!

I just realized, the ones that have the engine in backwards cost half as much. Kinda like the second quality shoe stores that sell shoes with factory defects for half the price. Cheby drivers wear THOSE shoes. Ha!

This thread did start out as a bit of a stir but it's been dead for 6 months now. I started is back in Feb 2003 but it just keeps floating to the surface again.
It's like one of those anoying turds that won't flush no matter how many times you press the button.
I'm just amazed someone's had a go at it again.
Cheers

Hehehehe..
Mike..If you stop chewing the coolite packing beads (pelican poop I call it) that your cobra bits come packed in......that small flushing problem you have will just float away.

Aussie Mike Hey Mike, Why is it that Ford can mount a head to a block with 10 bolts and chevy needs 16 for a small block and 12 or 14 for a BB? Here we go Rick Lake

Rick,
Pretty lame, why are high compression Fords prone to blown head gaskets?
And why did the Pro stock Ford engine add extra head bolts?

Hey Rick L., never thought about number of wasted bolts before? Ford also saved a nickle ninety five on those annoying adjusting bolts/nuts for the valve train Too! You can place any left over hardware in the intake manifold with a note with instructions to GO HOME.
I like the newer Gen 6 Dart blocks (GM DESIGN) that are missing the upper intake boltholes in the head. I just slap on the early intakes and leave those bolt holes blank. I have several people tell me bolts have fallen out frequently on the intake. I used RTV to spooge bolts in place on a customer engine cause he did not want open holes.
On the SB motors even 16 bolts won't clamp head gasket well enough to exceed 15 pounds squeeze on the mouse motor without pushing head gasket out. It is a communistic plan to deplete the nations bolt supply but lets not tell everyone. And what is up with this sneaking a metric bolt in here and there in the middle of all the other US Standard bolts?

RacerX#99 Any head gasket will Blow if it is not the right application. If I was to run 15 pds of boost, the heads and the block would be Oringed and either a solid copper gasket for short racing or a SS gasket. All hardware would be ARP also. Alot of new motors and blocks coming out have more than 10 head bolts now. I will let you know after I get the blower back on my car. With 9.2 compression and intercooled about 12-15 will be the limit. The shelby block only has 10 bolts, sorry Studs. We will see if the gaskets blow Rick Lake
