Look at BHP per cc or cubic inch.......Then you will realise why I had a BMW V8 in my first Cobra and will have Lexus V8 in my second...........
At nearly $7 per gallon I cant afford to waste fuel.......
Cheers,
Tony

Just a few more thoughts:
*** C5-R went undefeated in 2004, All the same drivers are returning in 2005 for the C6-R racing program.
*** GM quote regarding the C6-R : " Through a combination of Computational Fluid Dynamic studies and on track testing, the end result will be an aerodynamically balanced package tunable to the low drag demands of LeMans or the high downforce requirements of Mosport"
*** Need to also factor in the metric of cost for each one horsepower, etc

Cobra Make, Engine: Classic 427, I purchased it May 2005, the kit was bought in 1991. I'm not sure when it was completed! Installed GMPP Connect & Cruise 376/525 with T-56 S/M 3.55 gears about 2 years ago! 1/4 miles is with old setup!

When it comes to going fast, the limiting factor is always how much money you got! Right now, dollar for dollar the SBC is very hard to beat! An all aluminum roller cammed 472 SBC would be cool!

Put your SBC in a Cheetah, not a Cobra.

Fords suck?? Well, yeah they suck in copious amounts of air and fuel and make gobs of HP at lower rotational speeds. Plus they make the most glorious sounds! Chevy's are ok if you can keep them together long enough! I love Fords!

Hey Bret,
I am not trying to pee on your shoes here and ask just to understand the world a little better. What is wrong with a chebbie or mopar or any other high horsepower combination.
Same lines as small block or big block question but if it is your Toy then whatever works for you.
I see you are in the CSX line so see your point in a Shelby to keep closer to the true heritage. If already a replica or an inspired by car whats the difference.
If I had a Shelby CSX car it would be Ford and perfect!! Man would I love to have one. Congrats on yours, I am jealous

Some people are purists and think a mutt is a Husky/Beagle mix. Others think a mutt is a mutt.

Hey Brent,
The best Mutt or any pooch I ever had for that matter was a Collie and G shepherd mix. The ***** was a highly papered collie and an equally prized and valued German shepard jumped a fence to get into the holding kennels.
The owners of each pooch cried foul and to them the pups were worthless and clearly could not carry CSX I mean AKA paperwork. I kept one of those puppies and what a dog it turned out to be.
Good tempered, fantastic family protector, loyal and all I could ever ask in a pooch. To some he was worthless and not even close to being eligable for papers but best dog I ever owned. I have learned over the years I am just a mutt kinda person. BTW it was my collie ***** and this is a true story
*** bit@h was auto edited, so replace with mother! LOL

Let's remember the Cobra started out as a MUTT! AC Ace body with Furd power. Now if Carroll had it to do over again?

vettestr,
This is just IMHO.
I guess I am kind of a original/keep it Ford or Chevy kind of guy, like NASCAR. My favorite racing was T/A in the late '60's and early '70's. One brand racing against another.
I loved them all: T/A Challengers, ARR 'Cudas, BOSS 302s, Javlins, Camaros.....remember?. To me it just wouldn't be right to put a chevy motor in a 'cuda, that is where I am coming from. I am not adverse to putting any combination of motor/trans/susp etc in any vehice if that is what you are into.
Hey it's your car, do with it what you want.
My feeling are if you have a replica, muscle car, historic, or vintage auto, try to keep it close to original, but doing your own personalization is OK too. I love sleepers also!
Rods...........anything goes!
Bret.

Also for 05;
"The unique scoring system used in this dyno racing competition will combine the average horsepower and torque output of each engine over a specified rpm range of 2,500 to 6,500."
Things aught to get real interesting! I'm gonna have to put my money on Jon Kaase again.

Bernie,
I started this post ages back just to start trouble. I was in a strange mood at the time.
Over 2 years later and it's still going.
Cheers
