Does anyone out there now any company that offers modified parts, ie: pistons, cranks, rods and heads for the genIII engine?
I sent an email to c.o.m.e but never got a reply regarding there stroker crank set.

Hi David,

There are a couple of stroker cranks out there for the LS1. COLA and Lunati both make cranks. Many of the rod manufacturers are making rods for them and there are plenty of forged pistons too.

BTW I'm finally picking up my engine this week end. I went for a brand new Camaro/Firbird LS1 Crate motor. This one has the sump reservior at the rear which means it shouldn't have the oiling problems the Holden motors have been experiencing. They were also kind enough to supply the Corvette aluminium mounts that my chassis is set up for. I'll post some pics when I get it home.

Hi guy's
why don't you wait a couple more years for the 7.0lt block and strocker kit to become more common and more realisticly priced and in the mean time do what i am doing and put a supercharger on the 5.7lt and run it till it die's then go the 7.0lt way and then mabey fit the blower to that for a bit more punch.

I WISH THE RTA WOULD GET THERE FINGER OUT SO MY CAR CAN GET REGISTED.

Hi Craig,

How's your car coming along? I saw it back in Ian's workshop a while back.

Just doing some math on the LS1 parts available from the various manufacturers and I got some interesting figures.

I know the race block can be bored and taken out much further. but it would be interesting to see how far you can bore and slieve the standard aluminium block. There are pistons listed for 4.130" bore and a pin height for 4.0" stroke. Cola make a 4.0" stroke crank and this combo would make a 429 Cube (7.030L) LS1.

The next step would be to try the Cola 4.125" crank and build a 442 Cube (7.243L) motor. Big block cubes but aluminium small block weight. The whole thing would weigh around 180KG (396 Pounds).

The 383 (6.276L) combination looks like the easiest to build. That's just dropping in the 4" crank and using the standard 3.905" bore. I believe COME are working on a 4" crank here in Melbourne and they are doing forged H beam rods. I think the 4" crank and some longer 6.2" rods (up from 6.125") and the pistons with the pin height to suit would be the go. The longer rods would help maintain the rod stroke ratio with the 4" crank and you wouldn't need to bore the block. The motor would be under square but the LS1 is a bit light on for low down torque anyway. This is probably the bigest cube combo with out having to bore or slieve or use the race block. Since the race block works out to about $16K down under so it's out of reach of a meer mortal like me.

I have been talking with c.o.m.e and they are working on a 383 stroker crank, they are telling me that the price will be about $3000-$4000aus that is crank rods pistons balancer flywheel and rod bolts.
The engine i have is a late build commodore with the later type pick up so all should be ok, I am building an engine stand before i tear it apart but i wont do that till after i get the kit in my shed (or i will have crap everywhere)
