LS7 makes 730 HP on pump gas
For 8 years I've had a very fast track Cobra that has always had one version or another of a 430cid, full race, drysumped small block. Lately, I've been wanting to get more use out of the car, but that's hard to do with valvesprings that are only good for 500 miles. Also, I have no desire to lose power to gain streetability or compromise handling (big block) to retain power. Well... having followed the LS7 development program at Schwartz Performance over the last 27 motors, I finally had to pull the trigger and get one. Representing the high end of Schwartz's naturally aspirated street engine line is the 730 HP version running pump gas, idling smoothly at 920 rpm, while using a stock GM throttle body and the drive-by-wire pedal. The heart of all Schwartz's packages is the proprietary custom hydraulic roller cam that emphasizes drivability and good street manners... and it only weighs 380 lbs.
Check out Schwartz Extreme Performance
Now all I have to do is wait for this latest 14" of snow fall to melt...

Scott
beat me to it !!!!!
Do you know how much your car weighs????( of course if you just give me the corner #s I can add them up) I know my body is supposed to be lighter than the earlier ones and I'm going to use very lite exhaust components

Thanks Mike. I was a little apprehensive about it in the beginning but this has rejuvenated the hobby for me. That's a good looking LS motor you've got.
Jerry- I don't know what it's going to weigh yet but it's going to be light. I'm in the process of building a new car with a very lightweight body that Brett made for me a couple of years ago. This new body weighs 251 lbs which, according to Brett, is substantially lighter than the new, lighter weight, hand-laid production bodies. The old car scaled at 2640 with me in it. Have you ever had just your body on the scales?

Scott---I haven't weighed the body but I don't think its much over 250--It is for 93 in wb so a few pounds there
Planning on very light exhaust system but probably not titanium
Do you run a power rack and piniuon on yours?
I've been thinking about making molds to make Carbon fibre doors, hood and trunk but that is on the longer wish list

Isn't Schwartz the one that has that yellow exotic looking car, I think it 's a Noble ? I saw him run the Zero-200-Zero at the Silver State Classic. Now with an unbelieveable 730 hp , I'd say he's really got his game going with those LS motors.

Jerry,
Yes, for me to run right on the edge, I like a really quick rack and power assist. I run a 1/2 second per lap quicker when I'm constantly making small, quick, steering imputs to keep the car under me verses being on a rail. I'm not saying that's right or best for everyone, but it is how I'm used to driving from the dirt Late Model.

It's an Ultima GTR with a twin turbo LS2. Schwartz has sold more LS7 packages and tested more combinations than anyone.
ratsnst1,
Thanks, thanks, thanks...
Did you go with C4 suspension?

I got 1996 C4 suspension under mine and have another complete setup on the shelf--i got them from GM engeneering test cars
I agree with the looseness as for lap times---recovering from almost out of control is quicker than on a rail---course not will come the turn ins, trail brakers, apex this an that

Scott:
I have to look into that. . . I've got a 550+ hp 427 BBC that so far runs pretty good. But 730 hp on pump gas, wow. . . I've got a scratch built chassis with C4 suspension and I hope to get some track time this year. The car is pretty light but haven't had it on the scales yet. Next month when it is finished I'll get the suspension set up and weigh her in.

I was at Run n Gun and Schwartz was there with his awesome Ultima. I understand that it was sporting twin turbos and running over 1000hp!
I am finishing my new Cobra that runs an LS6 with a T56 trans in an all aluminum backbone chassis and has a fiberglass/carbon fiber hybrid body. I am using 2004 C-5 Corvette suspension and diff, which I have converted to running a driveshaft. In street trim it weighs 1900lbs. I am running this years One Lap of America race with it in May. And I will offer the car as a complete kit for $29,900, also in May. The kit comes with new 2004 C-5 Corvette parts and only needs engine/trans, wheels (18 inch C-5), tires, and paint to finish. Fast and light is COOL!!!!!!!!!
