I have never seen one (Cobra) flat black. I have seen other cars done nicely. If you find a pic, please post it!

I think a gloss black cobra with satin black super snake style stripes would be fun.

If you can wait a couple years you will see one. I have an old one with a flip nose. Plans are to make it look like a test mule for the "Turd".
It will get a cage, the side fold down doors. No bling on the car, quick jacks, flat or satin black and lots of stickers. Aluminum interiour, a hod podge of gauges. A low windscreen, driving lights and a push bar on the back.
For some reason I get more excited thinking about my second build than I do the current first one.

Get some swatches painted up first so you can see the contrast between the two colors. I am a printer by trade and do a great deal of gloss/matte work. You need two contrasting levels of gloos to make it work, and I was orginally going to do what you are propossing. I kind of regret not doing it because I have made my car too clean and nice to drive, I drove it much more when it was just gell coated black.
The look you will want will be sinister, black side-pipes would look awesome. I would suggest a satin black body, gloss stripes. Or a matte body with satin stripes. The down side of a totally matte paint job is that finger prints, every drop of oil or debris will show up. You just need to make sure there is enough contrast between the two finishes or you will never be able to see the stripes, which you want subtle, but not so subtle you cannot tell they are there.
I think this is a great idea. LOW maintenace.

I would think so, but again, get swatches done. Satin, matte, gloss - are all very subjective terms - EVERYONES OPINION of these terms is different. I will not proceed on any printing job until I complete a swatch and the customer signs off on it.
As I understand it, the growing popularity of the finish you are looking is now offered in a lot of different flavors from a lot of different companies.
I seen this F5 upclose at a local show last year; I think it is exactly what you want. The guy who painted this painted my car and has painted several hundred replicas. Great guy.

this last summer we painted my kids 65 Galaxie.......now keep in mind i'm not a painter..
we went to the local hardware store a got a gallon of Rustoleum Flat Black and we thinned it 3% with Acetone and we sprayed it 4 times over 4 days and it came out looking pretty darn good.......i would say it's a 10 footer....keep in mind it's a 65 Galaxie that was rode hard all its life and we did not do any body repair at all BUT the new paint looks great

I was going to do my 64 rambler in ratrod style last year, then I found out if I actually purchased the flat paint that is suggested to keep finger prints and dust, and to actually seal the car it was going to cost the same for that paint as it would for regular paint. So I opted to go with shiney stuff.
