CR Coil Over conversion
I have a Classic Roadster that I am converting to coil overs (500#) I bought a QA1 Coil over conversion. I am replacing the upper arms with tubular ones but keeping the conventional Mustang II lowers. I rebuilt the lowers and welded plates across them in high stress areas to strengthen them. I started to install the parts today and see a problem. Per the pictures attached, you can see that the QA1 shocks are considerably shorter then the stock ones. The stock ones were installed with two bumper donuts that are about 2" inches in length. That is about the difference I am seeing in the extended position of both shocks. With the donuts in place on the old shocks, the stroke of both are about equal. My question is do I try to compress the coil overs enough so that I can bolt it up to the existing tower on the cross member or should the tower be cut off and a flat feature welded in? Some must have come across this same issue in the past. Any info would be appreciated
PS For some reason i am getting upload errors on my pics..I will keep trying
