Default Minor adjustments and suspension adjustments

Hello Don

if you remember i recently bought Jim V. cobra here in Dallas. i was wanting to make some adjustments and i am not sure how if you can help me i would appreciate it. first. you mentioned that the rear springs are adjustable can you tell me how to adjust them and if there is a manual or documents i would love to see and have them. the front end is not to bad but it could be a little stiffer. this one had the MustangII front and the Ford 8.8 rear with adjust coils. also the drivers door rubs a tiny bit right at the front edge of the inside panel, hard to describe but basically it needs to come up on the hing an 1/8 inch or less. thirdly my fuel gauge light went out and it is tough to get behind it. do i have to take the whole dash off to replace the bulb. next how easy is it to change the seats they are nice but set to deep for me i am alittle shorter than jim. they move forward but they set back and down which is still akward. can you adjust the gas pedal further forward the clutch and brake are in good positon.

Mike, I was answering your questions in order so now I know who you are. The front and rear springs are adjustable. The rear springs are adjusted through a hole behind each seat in the corner of the package tray. It uses a 7/8 socket. The rod adjusts up and down. Up for less stiffness, down for more. This also changes the ride height of the car. The fronts are Carrera coil overs. They are adjustable but you will need a spanner wrench. They adjust at the bottom of the spring. You will need to take the weight off the front and turn the spanner nut up for increased stiffness. The fuel gauge light is at the top of the gauge and just pops out from it's socket. No need to remove the dash for this. Reach your hand up and pop the light out from the gauge. The bulb is in this socket. You may want to just reach and check the wires first to make sure one of the wires didn't come off. There are 2 wires going to the light. If I understand you correct the door is rubbing on the inside kick panel. Door adjustment is very tricky, If you want to try it you will need to remove the door panel and the kick panel. There are 3 bolts on the front of the door hinge behind the kick panel that allow the door to move front to back. There are 2 bolts at the front of the door which you can get to through the hole under the door panel. You can move the door in, out, up or down. This is tricky. You don't want to move much because a small move can change the door alot. The seats can be moved. There are 4 bolts under the seat through the frame that hold them in place. You could redrill to move the seat farther forward. If you just need to raise the seat you could add spacers at the rear bolts to bring the back up for a more vertical seat back. There isn't much you can do the bring the gas pedal forward. I think the seat is the way to adjust your reach.

thanks Again DOn

i will try the ride adjustment this weekend and height adjustment. the door looks tricky i may wait its not that big of a rub., i to thought maybe putting spacers under the seat may help. or having the seat refoamed to better fit my rump. it is the total combination of the thick thigh pad and the deep bottom seat along with the deep downward angle of the foot wells that make it a little difficult. it is nice for taller people and give the feeling of lots of leg room.
thanks i will keep in touch.

Mike
