Cobra Make, Engine: Classic 427, I purchased it May 2005, the kit was bought in 1991. I'm not sure when it was completed! Installed GMPP Connect & Cruise 376/525 with T-56 S/M 3.55 gears about 2 years ago! 1/4 miles is with old setup!

Transmission
I'm thinking about going to a 5-6 speed transmission! It's Chevy powered and currently has a 700R-4 auto. TKO 500-600? What about pedals, I only have a size 10 shoe and it's tight with only gas and brake! Shifter position?
Did you use Mustang stuff or an after market kit? I guess I would be looking at Camaro's for the trans! Any problems to look out for?
Thanks

Al,
If you do change, I have an extra manual trans pedal assembly that I could let go for a fair price.

I would not go with a 6 speed. I have a 6 speed in my Cobra now behind a 383 SBC. With 4.56 gears in 6th, it cruises at 2200 RPM. That is great, but I swear 1st gear ends at about 10 mph. I just switched to 3.73 gears, but have not driven it yet. 6th in my trans is .54.
Mine has a Lakewood blowproof bellhousing with an adapter to use the T56. I found a 2005 GTO shifter and modified it to work so the shifter now sits on the inspection cover about 13" forward of it's original position.

I'll keep that in mind for they were my first concern!
Thanks!

Well I guess I will be going to a 5sp.
TKO 600 with the .82 5th gear.
I picked this up on E-bay for $127.50, it's for a v-8 Monza.
I got the manual pedal setup from Terry, thanks again Terry! So it looks like I got all the hard stuff lined-up?

Awesome, Looks like you have a great start. Just a note, Bill Emerson has come up with a "pull" clutch master cylinder that works with the CR cable clutch pedal assembly. You might want to contact him so you can get away from the cable. If you want to that is.
Bill is at Emerson MotorSports - Emerson 427 - Bigger, stronger, faster, better. You heard this before, let us prove it!.
Of course, someone else might have it also but Bill an I were just talking about it last week when he came down.

Is an extra gear and 100# of torque worth $600.00? Into project creep again! The TKO 600 is a 5 sp will handle 600# of torque, the T-56 Magnum is a 6 sp that will handle 700#.
Tremec Magnum Close Ratio 2.66 1.78 1.3 1 0.8 0.62
6500 RPM 50 74 101 132 165 212
3000 RPM 23 34 47 61 76 98
TKO 600 Road Race 2.87 1.89 1.28 1 0.82 n/a
6500 RPM 46 70 103 132 161 n/a
3000 RPM 21 32 48 61 74 n/a
I'm thinking TKO 600 but I'll do a bit more research before I drop the $$!

As usual I think it depends on how you're going to use the car. I do a lot of highway driving and like the taller OD. 0.82 is not much of a rpm drop with 4.11 rears. If that's not an issue, well...

I sell anything Tremec makes and I never ever push a T-56. Waste of money just to say that you have 6 gears. You will never use 6th gear.
Much heavier, much longer, much bigger around, much more money. You don't need it.
TKO 600 all the way.

As always some good comments, thanks guys!
Greg, most use is around town with a blast at the strip now and then. That being said, I'm ok with 3000 rpm @ 74 mph on the road. I'm going with a 255* @ 0.050" cam 800 cfm carb and may change to a single plane intake. Below 3000 rpm it will almost be lugging!
The main reason I was looking at the T-56 was the 700# of torque! I still have a GMPP 572/620 sitting in the garage! With the 370 cc heads I have for it, it should be in the 750 hp range. I have about decided if I'm not happy with the 388 with the new cam I will sell the 572 & parts and build a SBC 427-434!
I really need to sell a bunch of stuff! I'm looking at retiring soon and a friend is wanting to buy my house with the pole-barn! My garage is a jumbled mess now, without the pole-barn??????
Blykins, please PM me I'll give you first shot on the TKO-600 stuff I'll need. So far all I have is the bellhousing and pedal assembly.
