Default My novel solution to incorporating a firewall adjuster on the CR Cobra

Considering that the 79 Mustang clutch I got was had allot of resistance on the cable itself and to use a newer style cable meant using a even longer tube, I decided to give a try and incorporate a Firewall adjuster.

The firewall adjuster I am thinking will make it allot easier to adjust the clutch.
While not pretty I think that using PVC and the flange base will be more than stable than enough.

Anyways what do you think?

I am going to clean up the mounting flange and paint the PVC black.

What year clutch cable did you end up using? Also, what is the length of your tube from where the adjuster mounts to the PVC back to the firewall?

I am getting ready to set up my clutch cable soon as well, so I may be using your method for inspiration.

I am using the 1979-1995 Clutch cable.
The Mustang Forums all recommend getting OEM Ford cable as most of the aftermarket ones introduce allot of cable resistance. Get the one that is adjustable at the clutch fork for added adjustment.

from firewall to end of the firewall adjustor is going to be about <I'll update it when I get home and measure it> inches.
Let me recommend the McLoed 1735 Firewall Adjuster. It's a little more (~$20) but has a bearing where the clutch cable seats to make things turn easier. I guess the others do not.

Note, that the 79-95 clutch cable does not fit directly to the clutch pedal. You will have to mock something up to house the end of the clutch cable. I can post a pic later of what I did if you are interested.
