Were 302's installed originally altered?
Does anyone know what kind of 302's were used for the turn-key builds done by Classic Roadsters in 1991? I have a 1991 built by them with a 302. I have no idea if they used rebuilt 302's, or modified, altered, juiced up, tricked out 302's, crate 302's or what. I can't see inside the engine obviously so I don't know if it has been ported, polished, a roller cam and so on. Any one have a 1991 build by them that has a 302 and knows anything about the engine?
Be a big help if you do. Thanks.

I doubt they were tricked out in any way. I would guess it's a "standard" crate engine.

Put it on a dyno, that will tell you pretty quick. Does it have the standard GT fuel injection intake? If it is stock, it could have less than 200 HP.

It has an Edlebrock aluminum intake, custom headers and an MSD ignition. Also a Holly 4-barrell. If it was a "crate" engine does that mean it was new or a rebuilt one? I thought I saw someone on here with a turn-key 1991 302 CRII. Don't know where I could get it dyno'd around here. Jim

I understand the frustration of not knowing what the internals are. I have a sbc 327 that I really wish I knew what type of cam it has in it. I all I know is that it must be a pretty big cam.
Considering that your engine has a holly carb, Edlebrock intake, it was a short block rebuilt engine. CR then added the intake, carb, water pump and pulleys. I don't see them ordering direct from Ford, but who knows.

If I had to guess (?) almost all of CR Cobras were built from DONOR cars.

Thanks. I hope it was at least a rebuild. But it is strong and compression is right up there on top. No leaks, no using oil, etc. But when I talk to a potential buyer they want to know if it has been bored, stroked, ported, cam'ed, polished, electrified, modified and gentrified. All I can say is I have no idea but it runs extremely well.

Jim,
If I may...find a Dyno, get a printout of the results. Then you can say "I don't know, but here's the dyno sheet! No lies, fibs, maybe's---just the facts!
