Default Misc. pieces required for soft top and tonneau cover

I just purchased a soft top and tonneau cover for my Classic Roadsters II cobra and need some help . The manual says to install soft top first , I,m assuming the snaps for the soft top and tonneau cover are in the same places ? (haven,t received the top or cover yet )
Also I,m looking for a supplier on line where I can purchase the 20 plus studs which mount on the body to secure soft top and tonneau cover ? And I also need a supplier for the 6 - stainless tubes that mount in the body and doors . I think I,ve heard these tubes called ferrules , which would be flared at one end and possibly threaded on the outside so they can be secured internally ?

Contact Cobra Restorers for the ferruls. The Lift A Dots are used a lot in Boat upholstery and covers. They are available with a self threading screw stud about 1/2" long or a machine screw stud that requires a nut. There is also a fiber washer that is available from Cobra Restorers that fits between the painted surface and the Lift A Dot Post. Ths ferrulls are smooth machined and need to be roughed up, then they will accept epoxy adhesive in the holes you drill in the fiberglass. You will really Pucker when you begin drilling holes. Measure carefully is the phrase of the day.

Cobra Restorers nor Finish line carry the proper studs for the CR Top &/or Tonneau including the ferrules..

"Lift a Dot" is the correct fitting- found all over the internet. It's the "studs" that are tricky. They too can be found on the internet. Stand bye on the "studs" give me until tomorrow I might have some??

If you are doing both do the Top first! Once you have the studs mounted for the top THEN lay out the Tonneau and then match the lift a Dots to the studs already in place.

Hint: Buy quality pins! The cheap ones will snap off in the fiberglass when screwing them in....a real night mare

Hint #2: Dap each pin with red locktite as your screwing them in. Adds a little lubricant plus when the locktite dries it will lock the pins in tight-Lasts for years.

I too will be needing this hardware...
Does anyone have a pic of what the bows look like without the top on it...
I am hoping it will not be too much to have someone make it for me.

FuzzyDiceRide, I think you misunderstood me... Those of us that just got soft tops, the tops did not come with any of the hardware (like the bows). I was asking if someone had a pic of what the bows looked like without the softtop on it.
Just got my soft top in the mail today... Car is still a ways off from being finished so the top will sit.

Don't know what NICK makes but he has a great reputation!

The bows are made out of 1/4" ID steel tubing.

You will need (1') of solid steel tubing (you will have plenty for practice!) for the many connections from tube to tube, and finished bow to body.
These are cut roughly 3-4"s +/- sections. Then each solid piece is cut down on one end like a DULL pencil point to slide up into a matching tube. (Grinder works just fine!)
There are only a total of 4 tubes.

This is only half the story - sorry - easy to make, simple to do, IF you have a pattern.
When you do get started make sure the bows are as tight and touching,(the top) as you can get to make sure the top is tight.

I could not extract any usable information about an answer on the ferrules. I bought some from Finish line years ago that were too large. Still looking for some chrome ones that will fit the pre-drilled holes in my original CR II doors for the windows I don't have. So if anyone actually finds some that fit please post. Thanks

Half inch holes with a 3/8" ID. Kinda pricey but chrome is expensive.

Ouch! That is expensive... So 3 are required for each door plus 1 behind the door? I see only 2 holes in my doors...
3 per side total on our cobras?

I'll repeat: As far as I know of, Classic Roadsters ONLY used straight pieces of steel tubing to fit into all the holes for the tops! There are NO KNOWN aftermarket ferrules that will work in a CR Cobra!

On the other hand, for those that insist there are because they have seen them in a CR is due to Don Scott: Think back to the older days,70's or earlier when cars used a chrome "CAP" on the inside door locks! Some of these were simply CAPS and not the entire shaft which was used to trim out the Push down/Pull up door locks!

Don discovered Chevy and GMC P/U's used just used these caps for trim. they had "tangs" on the bottom that would be bent under the panel, holding the caps to the door panels. Don would cut off the tangs and GLUE the caps over the holes! And there you have it, "Chromed Ferrules" for a CR.

Thanks for that clarification DV... No ferrules used for the top....

What about the latch system that latches the top to the windshield? Would these be the ones? Soft top latch system

Yes they attach to the end of these Split Header Bows [427 289 CSX CCX KMP ACE HT SPF] - $225.00 : Acton Custom Enterprises, Custom Metal for Cobras
which get glued to the inside front of the soft top.
