Usually not the bolts themselves, just around the holes if that makes sense. I use Ford Racing graphite gaskets for both cast and aluminum heads zero leaks, around $60 U.S.
I'd have to look in Ford Catalog for them, I checked Ford Racing p/n : M-6051-S331.

It’s one of the only parts from the engine- besides the block that’s original.

I have a 460 (385 Series), so a different beast, but I was having problems getting everything to seal. Here are the instructions that eventually worked for me (you'd have to adapt to your application). BTW, I used Permatex Ultra Black RTV:
“For std port installs I use the felpro blue intake gasket. I use RTV on both sides of the gasket not only at the water transfer holes but also around the intake ports. The key is to use a light smear. You don't need to go crazy here. PIA yes but it works.
“In addition I torque the intake in 3 steps using the vertical holes to set the intake height relative to the china wall and runner exits port entries. (I use a video scope to look for port alignment both vertical and front to back) Once the intake is located I then torque in the normal sequence 10 / 20 / 35 and let it set overnight. I then retorque to address gasket compression. I then re-torque again after dyno when the engine has cooled. Any bolt holes into the rocker valley that are not blind need a smear of sealer on the threads to prevent oil migration past the threads.”

Have them too. Correct methodology, poor choice of RTV. It works for a while. It not made to resist the antifreeze, just like the problem with gear oil. Right Stuff works great too, but again wrong application. For decades used RTV Blue to make all my lovely Ford blue blocks. it is not a matter of if, but when, especially on Windsor series. Yes, i have had it works for years without a problem, other times right off the bat.

When I switched out my pinto/MII 9" brakes to the 11" Wilwood Dynalites 4 piston, I dropped 35#s per front wheel. That's a big difference.

74Proii: Take a look at this for me please... you might have to zoom in, I marked up the photo...
Looking at the staining- and I’ve only ran the engine for a total of maybe 20 minutes-so it’s minimal- I think the coolant is leaking out the top of the coolant passage and getting sucked back in the intake. 1250 Felpros, proper alignment and torque, but I appear to have a 5 thou runout on the lower intake(with a straightedge I can just fit the 5 thou feeler guage in spots). You’d think the gaskets would take up 5 thou, but I guess not. Have a machine shop plane the intake? Or just replace?
I thought I saw a bit of white smoke when I first started it. Brushed it off though.
Hope everyone is having a good day!

Michael,
Have a look here: 427 S.O. smoke
The Fail-Pro gaskets are likely the problem. Get some steel reinforced Victor Reinz or equivalent.

Hey Tom,
Thank you for the link to that post! That’s interesting. Here I was, thinking Felpro was fair quality.
Cheers

I went through a few sets of different gaskets and sealers on my Contemporary Cobra. I had very good luck with the FelPro 1247S3 gaskets (steel core) vs the standard FelPro Printoseal gaskets. I also used the Motorcraft TA-31 Diesel RTV and was very happy with it. If you do a search on this site, I think you will find that most people who have used the TA-31 were happy with it. The 427 in my Hi-Tech has Edelbrock gaskets which have not given me any problems either. Good luck!!
