Excalibur Lower Control Arms
Hello Everbody,
I am trying to refresh the front suspension on my Excalibur Cobra as the steering and front suspension feels very loose.
I am in the process of removing the lower control arms and the darn single long rod holding in the controls arms is giving me issues...first of all its bent a bit.
second I am thinking if I pull it from the the forward positions I am going to have to pull my radiator...
I really dont want to do that. what have others done to pull the lower control arms, can you sneak them out going towards the rear of the vehicle?
also, what suspension upgrades would you guys recommend?

Hello everybody. as a follow up I was able to get the rods out by lifting the radiator slightly out of the way and sliding them out. not easy but I got them out.

Options
You have some options. I think Hiedt's still makes a real nice Mustang II OEM style replacement single lower and rod with the upper as well. I didnt install any of that and changed mine over to A-Arms for the uppers and the lowers with no more rod from Heidt's Suspension. I then removed the springs and shock idea and installed QA1 coilovers. Should ride real nice. Quite a few people on here have done the same changes with great success. Just do a search on the Classic Roadster forum for suspension and you will have much to read and learn.

Thanks for the reply. did you by chance have to make any modifications to your coilover top mount location? I have been reading on the forum about it. I ordered struts from QA1 and they are about 4 inches too short for my needs. I spoke with QA1 and the are recommending a custom coilover with a weld in upper mounting bracket...
If I am going to involve a fabricator I might as well just lower the upper coilover mounting location to match the height I need.
QA1 said that there are some added benefits of a eyelet coilover top mount due to more travel and better stability etc.
I am trying to figure out how to attach pictures but they keep coming in sideways! not sure why.

Excalibur Cobra coil over replacement request
Hello all-
New to ClubCobra.
1997 Excal Cobra
Does anyone have a suggestion where to find a replacement coilover (or jeven just the shocks) for the Carrera coilover's that came with the Excal Cobra's ?
Without adding any type of spacers or modifying suspension?
Thanks,
Nick

I would give a call to QA1 and see if they have something for you. They can even make a shock to copy what you have.

Thank you RonKahn !
I did reach out to QA1.
Even though they purchased Carrera, they could not cross the P5084 to any of their own.
They asked for the dimensions:
"Extended, Compressed, ride height needed(?), eyelet diameter's, etc, etc.
I will attempt to pull out myself this weekend and try for a close match.
I appreciate EVERYONE'S help and responses, as I am new to all this.
