Default Rear LCA and Sway Bar

Tried a search but didn’t have any luck. I have a 8.8 rear and have been considering making some tubular lower control arms / trailing arms since I have gone to QA1 coil overs. Looking for suggestions on how to incorporate the rear sway bar with tubular arms since it mounts to the inner channel of the CR arms. Thanks in advance

Hi,

The good news is the history of this topic is in these archives. Double Venom did a piece on this subject. I ended up purchasing QA1 Lower Control Arms for a Foxbody and had them cut down to size and welded the ends back together. The result of this modification made a big improvement on the rear making it feel a lot more connected to the road and body. Because of this modification I was also able to use a 1 inch adjustable rear sway bar from QA1 as well. If you’re looking for better handling for the street this should help. If you’re looking for better handling on a track you really need to change the 4 link into a 3 link set up. Someone did this once on the forum and I am planning to attempt it this coming spring. Factory Five has a 3 link set up for a straight axle and it looks like it can be fabricated into the CR1 rear.

I went to the tubular LCA arms. I do not use the rear sway bar for the reasons you mentioned. I don't miss having it. No over or understeer issues on the street or track. I am still using the front sway bar which is said to be oversized for the car. Very little body roll if any. I remember DV saying to delete both sway bars for better cornering. That he had some much improved results on the skid pad. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Hi John,

That’s a big piece of information I never found from DB archives. Could you send me the link, O would love to read it?

Hapnyny
Search Classic Roadster sway bar.

There should be lots of old threads from DV and Don Scott.

Good luck
John
