Default Roll Bar Kick

I just got off of the phone with George at Kustom. Apparently the legs on the roll bar he's sending me are straight and do not have a bend to meet the rear frame member (just behind the seats).

What I'm going to have to do is fabricate up some receivers for the roll bar. The receivers will bolt to the frame member, bend upwards to catch the roll bar legs.

And that's as far as I've gotten so far.

I'm *VERY* open to ideas!

Petek,

It's obviously to late to put the "bends" in the lower portion of your bar. Extensions coming off the frame with the bend are a possibility, but to me that would be very difficult for you at this point.

On all our Cobras we build, we take a 3/16's 3x3 or 4x4 piece of angle and weld it between the frame rails, right behind the right behind the square tube that your roll bar would normally sit on.

I don't know if this would work for you, but it would be worth checking out. (We've even welded these angles in on finished cars.)

If this is as clear as mud, feel free to call. If it would work, it certainly would be the easiest solution.

DV - 300 Cobras is NOT enough!

DV,

Perfectly clear and it's one of two options I've been thinking of, although I was thinking square section tubing rather than angle.

The other idea I had was to take a piece of plate steel (3/16 - 1/4) fabricated to fit the parcel shelf and then tie it onto the frame with three bolts to the square tube frame member closest to the seats and then one bolt each to the frame members near the jack screws. Tubular receivers with fillets then welded to the plate.

I dunno ... but once I've got the roll bar in hand I'll be able to cut the holes in the body and send the car out for paint!
