Need Help! Stewart Warner Tach!
Hey Guy's! I need a Stewart Warner Tech. I have one but it's not an electrical one.
I need the SW-82163 Tachometer RPM x 1000 (A) 0-8,000 rpm 3 3/8" Electric, 4-, 8-, 12-Cylinder . Black face and chrome Bazel.
Please if you got one ...how much to take it off your hands!
Thanks.
Snake/Gerry.
P.S. Do you need anything to go with it.....like a sender...I have no idea...this is my first dash wiring job.

I have a full set of new-in-box VDO Cockpit style (black face, black bezel) gauges for about what you'd probably pay for the SW tach. Speedo is 160MPH, 3 3/8" mechanical. Tach is 7000 RPM, 3 3/8" electric, water, oil, volts, & fuel (GM 90 ohm) are 2 1/8". They're available because I didn't use them. Used Autometer 5" Sport Comp speedo & tach, and Z Series smaller gauges instead. Make me an offer.

Jegs, or Summit should carry them, and no, you wont need a sensor for it. It just hooks into the distributor, or an MSD box if your using one.
If you can't find what you want through them, let me know, I can order it directly through SW for you.

Thanks Buddy! I have a Holley HP Annihilator ignition system...I guess when I get an electrical tach I could conect it too that. Got another question for you.
After you hook up the steering colum to the wire harness...will the lights and the controls work? Because in the manual when you start hooking up the dash..there is wires to hook up the ignision switch, lights, wiper system etc? Do I just forget about them....and for some reasion...the red light on the dash has only one wire conected to it?
So many question??
Sorry about that!
Snake/Gerry.

Snake,
When your dash is done you will have a large flat gray plug, and a large flat black plug. Both of these plug into the fuse box. Then you will have power to all systems...assuming you have the Column plugged in.

In the manual when you start hooking up the dash..there are wires from the wiring harness to hook up the ignision switch, lights, wiper system etc?
I'm using the GM steering colum to control my lights, wipers. What do I do about the wires for the ignistion switch, lights, wiper system from the harness?
Do I just forget about them?, Cut them? tape them? Heat shrink them!
For some reasion...the red light on the dash has only one wire conected to it?
Did I miss something?
Snake.
