On our single tube side pipes the elbow can be adjusted 20%in all directions before the elbow is welded to the flange adapter. So you can put it on the car and draw a line around the elbow where it enters the flang, then take it all off, cut off the excess elbow and weld to the line. The big advantage is being Abel to change the glass pack in ten mentis the home shop guy can mark them and tack them to be welded. Bill E EMS

Bill,

We're very fortunate to be located where we are at, and to have a lot of parchment carrying engineers that come into the shop all the time.

This wing actually started life as a VIPER rear wing. Untold hours of wind tunnel and track time. All we've done is adapt and modify the angle ever so slightly for the Cobra.

I had no idea anyone else had been working on this!

We did this for the DV's as a safety device first, and a go-faster device second. I will get pictures of it today. If there is a demand or a need, we'll certainly provide them.

(The angle of attack is be easily adjusted in minutes to match track speeds too!)

DV...who would have thunk it!

Default Custom Side Pipes

Should anyone build the side pipes for the CR, suggest that the muffler portion is NOT included. This approach would allow everyone to tailor the sound and db level to their own personal desires. As an example, purchasing the mufflers from Lucien at Arizona Exhaust. "Might" also lower the overall cost.

Don,

Most guys can't or don't have the equipment to install the mufflers.

Of course this could always be an option too.

DV, You better put some wheels on that stool. She's going to have a tough time holding that thing on at 100mph. I think I would mount it so her arms don't get tired. On second thought forget the wing and bungee cord the girl to the trunk lid. Make her wear a bikini and you're sure to have everyone stay behind you just to watch. You could probably win any race and never go over 30 or 40mph.

Ed - I reviewed the pictures I sent you about my car and I don't believe I didn't send you the pictures of the rear spoiler we made for my cobra. I'm on the fence on using it however. That spoiler was used on Elegant motors "attack" cobra, more moons ago than I care to admitt. It was a very popular option according to a old Elegant shop guy that I still know. I still don't know how to post pictures so I will have my son E-mail you a picture of that spoiler saturday. You may be interested.

Chevbra,
How did you miss the pictures? Go to page two of this thread!

Fellows, it breaks my heart to tell you this, but Lucien has closed his shop and retired. Lucien mufflers are no more. Lucien, I hope you enjoy the good life, we will miss your expertise!

cs69er....

I have a set that I custom made for my CR and they utilize Lucien's 4" bullet and 3" ID glass pack muffler. Painted black with collectors. Pix available if interested.

I had Lucien make me another set which I had Silver coated by AirBorn in Charlotte.

DV or Don or?,

I have side pipes from CR that I got about 1 to 1/2 years ago. The problem I am having is that the are quite loud. I know Cobras are supposed to be loud but it idles at 95 Db and at 3000 rpm it's at 105 Db. Is this normal? Also I saw in a thread somewhere that these are too restrictive. Should I just replace these? And in your opinion, with what?
Thanks for you time I appreciate it.

Think I've mentioned this before, but there is another muffler Mfg in AZ called Page Muffler. (Ad in Street Rodder Mag) They make a 2 1/2" core, 4" case, 30" length glasspack that swap right out for the CR OEM's by any muffler shop. Right mellow, these 2 1/2" ers. Have another set using a 2 1/4" core, 4" case, 36" length. Really mellow sound, but some power loss.

Don,
Talked to Pam last week, they are looking for new supplier of
side pipes. Is it possible to get the manufacturer in Canada and
have him make a set for me? My build is at a stand still until I get them.

Just did get off the phone with Pete. He said that Gene had told him this morning that the new manufacturer was not going to work out. I need a price and a supplier.

Thanks for the replies or emails.
I found a set of side pipes now and they work like a charm. As soon as I get a set of rear springs in, my car is totally complete and ready to roll. It turned out great and I can't wait for Spring Fling this year to show it off. Thanks again, chuck
