Post Can you modify the Speedo Cable?

Does anybody know if you can modify a speedo cable from either Ford or Napa cables? If so would you happen to have the part numbers...I'm using a Stewart Warner speedo gauge..and do have the part that screws in the back of the gauge...just need to know the part number of a cable that I could use. It's easyer to modify then to buy one and wait for it to be shiped to me in Canada...to much time wasted.
Thanks Guy's
Snake.

Most cables are the same size on the drive end---there is a 'repair kit' available from NAPA (and HELP too I think) that is the internal drive cable itself and a crimping tool. Costs about 5 bucks. You can make the cable whatever length you like, just follow the directions and take your time. It might be easier to measure how long a cable you want and find an understanding parts guy to help you search the books for a stock one the correct length. NAPA's parts books are quite good for this kind of work. Hit the parts guy up on a slow day and bribe him with a six pack of his choice and you'll have a friend in the parts business for life---a good thing if you drive a Cobra! I think I ended up using one from a '66 Mustang automatic and it was the right length. Should be available from Canadian Mustang, yes??

Thanks Buddy....I will check it out....I've got a manual T5 trans...so I'm sure the cable will be different then your is. I had talked to the NAPA guys today and, they said there inventory is different then the ones in the states...go figure? All look threw the NAPA book and try to find the right one...or one that I can modify.
Thanks Again.

Post Need Help looking for a Speedo cable!!

Hey Guys! Does anybody have a cable for a Stewart Warner speedo and would fit the Ford T5 trans!

Or maybe a speedo cable that I could just buy from a parts store like Napa. That would fit the T5 Ford trans and a Stewart Warner speedo gauge.

If so... do you have the part number of the cable....any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
