Need CR Headers for SBC 350

Anyone,
I need a set of headers for a Chevy Small block. Don said he will be getting them eventually, What about you DV? I am building my motor currently and need something to fire it up with. I don't want to purchase another set just to hold me over. Also, does the cam break-in period ruin the Ceramic header coating? I read that at Hooker Headers web site. Said the Ceramic needs broken in gradually. So should I break in with no-coated headers, then get them coated?

2. How can I increase traction in this car? I am using a 8.8 373 posi. With the 4-link. I have herb adams shocks with the recommended springs.

3. Is there a CR supplier sitting on a supply of headers waiting for CR to catch up on payments?

Sorry, don't have any yet.
Don

Thank You

Don,
Thanks for the info on the Block mounts. Can I pre-order the headers from you? Also, when I break in my cam, should I do it before the headers get coated? I read on the Hooker website that breaking in a cam on brand new headers WILL ruin the coating.

dscott 05-19-2003 07:57 AM

Cobra Hawk, I've never heard that before but the coating is only good to a certain temp. If you don't have the timing set properly or the carb is lean it will generate more exhaust heat. I always break in my engines on the dyno so I don't have the problem. Maybe someone else can answer this. I'll see what I can do for headers.

Don,
The site said the coating had to be broken in gradually. And 20 minutes was too much. How can I contact you?

Small Block headers

Hello everyone! I'm Ben Smith, I've been lurking on the FFCOBRA.com site for close to five years now, getting closer to purchasing my FFR, but I want to run a small block chevy. I haven't been able to find many sources for small block chevy headers andnoticed your thread, any chance you guys know where to find a set that fits an FFR roadster? Thanks in advance!!!

Snipes...You do realize the thread your replying to is more than 6 years old. State your location and I'm sure someone could steer you in the right direction. CR is out of business but there are other sources. I would think any specialty exhaust fab shop could make you some.

You're gonna have to get them made. I wouldn't go to an exhaust shop, unless you really knew the persons work. Find someone in your area that does custom rods and such and they will be able to make a nice set. Of course you're gonna have to have the car pretty much together so they can do it.

thanks for the info!

Fellas's,
Thanks for the info, guess I better start looking at dates on these messages! I have found a few places that are willing to make a set, Dana Dankert from shell valley said he can do it, I'm most likely gonna go that route. Reasonable prices too, If I remember correctly, he said roughly $450 a set. Thanks again!

Oh yeah, I'm in Warrensburg, Missouri close to Kansas City

Cobra Hawk.
I have a set as well. 1993 CR1 supplied headers 1 5/8" never used. The tubes look like they were bent with lawn chair bender. I used them for mock up after looking at quality and made new set with 1 3/4" tubes and Stahl adapters. Re-arranged lenghts so each tube was within 1" total when bolted to side pipes. My customer will sell them cheap. (810) 650-1225.

okiecarguy,
Are these/your headers made for a CR's? If not they wont work sorry, but if they are let us know and I will put them on my list of parts for the CR GUYS!
DV
PS Headers to side pipes are not the same from kit to kit-generally speaking!

Robert C 11-04-2009 01:17 PM

DV:
The headers I have are CR1 made in 1993. I talked to my customer and he would take any offer for them. Otherwise were going to scrap them. In my oppion they are only good for mock up and to locate factory side pipes like I did to make new headers.

Robert C,
Please don't scrap them! They may be the only accessible set "We" have to make a jig from. How much will he sell them for?

If you want to sell them.....

Let me know and I'll buy them. We (DV) need to keep an inventory of parts or patterns for other people.

Robert C 11-06-2009 08:02 AM

DV:
My customer paid $350 for them and my jaw dropped when I saw the poor quality. Tubes started out a 1 5/8" but in bends they are 1 1/4" or less. I'm sure he will sell for $50. If they can be used for jig, some one does a better job at making them and it helps other members down the road better yet. Give me a call and we can discuss. (810) 650-1225 cell. Just a reminder they fit SB Chevy and kit was bought in 1993 along with factory side pipes. I used them for mockup.
