fender side vents

If you don't mind me jumping in here, (Don's a little busy right now moving and loading a half dozen semi's ) Simply use the cheapest clear silicone caulk you can find.
I usually wear a cheap plastic glove, pump a hand full of caulk on to my finger tips and from the out side of the vent hole, reach in and load up the inside lip of the opening.
Then I simply put the vent in from the outside, turn and line for the proper fitment and pull up tight to the body. That's it, AND if you ever want to change or bleed the master cylinder, it's fairly easy to just grab the vent, push and wiggle a little and it will come right out.
It is a snug fit, you should have to twist them a little to "snap" into place. A couple of test fits please, before final posistioning!
DV...sounds like another one is almost ready for the road!

I did mine the same way except I used two paint stir sticks and a rubber band to pull the louver up tight to the fender (the paint sticks won't scratch your paint and the next day when the silicone is set you can just cut the rubber band and let the back paint stick fall to the ground).

thanks guys that is kind of what I thought, Don you had it in alright, I took it out to bleed the master cylinder, got alot of air out of the brakes late last night will test drive soon, seems like there is to many other things I have to do than what I really want to do, like playing with a Cobra, know what I mean. I like that! Roadsters really doesn't need the "clamp" as they pretty much "snap" in, but a lot of them don't. Gonna' remember that one!

Going in through the vents??? What a concept!!! I been standing on my head, trying to use mirrors, funnels with "fabricated" hoses, whew, I better take a close look at that vent opening!
I used silicone to "glue" the screens in place for the brake cooling holes in the front. Worked great.

Another product that I have used to "glue" in vent screens and aluminum shrouds etc. is a black urethane caulking that you have to get at an auto glass place. Places that replace windshields for insurance etc. This product is only available to commercial users and you might have to beg to buy a tube, but it sure works good. This stuff is more permanent than silicone so if you need to remove a part from time to time (eg side louvers for brake bleeding) this is probably not the product to use.
