Default Thanks CR!

I got tagged tonight in the rear... I was leaving a stoplight headed to dinner and a kid in a new Mustang apparently wanted to get a closer look....he did! After the lights came back on in my head and I realized what had just happened I pulled over to the side of the road to gather my thoughts and see just how much of the back end was left in the middle of the street. Fortunately the kid pulled over too and in his own words.." the last car in the world I'd ever want to hit would be one of these!!" he was rather upset..
Anyway.. to make a long story short....There was absolutely NO damage to the fiberglass. The Mustang's bumper never touched the body. The only visible damage I could see was that 1 bumper was bent up to within 1/8" from the body. The Mustang bumper had a hole completely through it the size of my fist!
I ached pretty badly by the time I got home so I went right to bed and slept in this morning. When I got up I went out to survey the damage a little closer. The bumper actually hasn't bent at all. The impact tore the weld on the upright support that the bumper bolts to. The front edge weld is the only thing left holding it so I can bend it back in place and reweld it. The worst thing that happened was that the upright was driven into the underside of the body and drove the body up on that side about an inch and a half tearing out the rivets that hold the body to the angle iron that bolts to the frame. I think some oversized backing washers for the new rivets will take care of this easily.
Thanks Classic Roadsters for making a much stronger bumper than I ever would have imagined!
Keep makin em this way Don!
