Paint stripes
Don or DV,
Do you have measurements or drawings of paint stripe dimensions for my CR? Thanks Art

Art, On the front end the main stripes start at 10" wide and go down to 8 3/4 at the front opening. On the rear they start at 10" and go down to 9" at the bottom. I have 2" between the main stripes. If you want the small stripes on each side of the main I space them out 1/8" and make the stripe 1/8"wide. Of course I find the center of the car to begin with. If you maintain the same width from top to bottom the stripe looks like it flares out at the bottom of the car.

The stripes look great with these measurments. The only differance is I used 1/4 inch instead of 1/8 inch on side stripes. Take a look at my pitures to see for yourselves. Thanks dscott for the valuable info.

LOL,
Art, want a neat tip to find the center of the car easy? OK, I'll tell you anyway
Drop the windsheild in, you will see two small machined holes at the bottom of the windshield, find center and mark the body. There, you have dead center. If you use defroster vents, now is the time to cut them in too.
I have used measurements from what Don speaks of to as much as 11 1/2 inches wide at the front cowl, narrowing down to as little as 8 1/2.
I use 1/16th pin stripes with a 2" center.
DV...have at it fella! Sounds like your almost there!

Hi all
Just copied down this info. Has answered a few of my questions here.
Yes, stripes sure look good. Will try the 1/8th and the 1/4 also to compare with tape.
Cheers

Art, It looks great! The painter did an excellent job. But you know what they say the paint is only as good as the prep, so you must have done a pretty good job also.

I visited the car almost every day for a month and a half, while it was being preped and painted. I know the owner of the shop, he and I have done business in the past. He must have gotten tired of seeing me though. Great prep work. He also let me work on it in a nice warm garage. Thats worth its wait in gold now. ....COLD!!!!

Don,
He said I only missed one spot feathering out filler on one door.
Not bad considering I had no idea of what I was doing. Fortunately,I have two buddies who are ex-body men and they
guided me through it, more often than not , they just said "keep sanding" Har har
