This is a time imemorial question with no easy answer, just starting points.
For a stock Ford engine, the factory manual should specify which plug to use. A heatrange up, or down, should be all that is necessary. Up a notch, (hotter plug) for cold weather, city type driving. Down a notch (colder plug) for hyway driving in hot climates.
Non-OEM heads (AFR, Edelbrock, Trick Flow Specalties, itc., will have their own spark plug recommendations.
