Question Hood

Due to fuel injection I had to raise the hood scoop about 3 inches, which is quite a job. Is there a hood produced with a taller scoop for the CR?

I ran into a similar problem and went the unconventional route yet keeping it within the "family" of ford's. I could rename my the BS machine! Big Scoop that is!

It's a '57 Thunderbird 3 1/2 inch scoop, pictures:

It has a shape that tear drops back rather than the traditioal rectangle Cobra shape. Think hard and long as I don't know if I would have gone this route but it DEFINETLY gives my car the EXTRA bad A$$ look it deserves! Best wishes. If you want to know where to get one let me know and I'll dig it up.

Donald, There is a FI hood for the CR. The scoop is quite a bit wider but I know it's not 3" taller. We have a new mount that would drop the engine another 3/4". I'll have to look at the FI hood to see how much taller the scoop is.

Don,
I used the optional hood with the bigger scoop with my EFI engine. It worked out fine. A little tight around the hose connecting the mass air meter to the throttle body but otherwise no problem.

jersey, welcome to the club! The hood you have was designed just for the Ford EFI. We have eliminated the need for that hood by lowering the engine. It is still available if the side clearance is needed for a specific application.
