Dash Wiring

Don,

Finishing the wiring on the dash and have a couple of questions:

**Headlight switch:
#171 to position 1
#141 to position 2
The switch I have (the one you use) is not the same as the illustration in the manual (big surprise, eh?). Mine has two common terminals in the middle and two above and two below. Where do #’s 171 & 141 go?


**I’ve wired the interior courtesy lights to a toggle switch. Do I need to do anything with #’s 178, 179 & 183? (Door switches and ground)


**What is the best source of power for my elect speedo?


**How do you hook-up the voltmeter?


Fingers are crossed hoping everything else is good and will work as expected.

Dwain, on the back of the switch each lug is numbered 1 thru 6. Wire the switch as follows:

wire #171 to 3, jumper from 3 to 1
wire # 141 to 6
wire # 112 to both 2 and 5
The switch will be off in the center, down for parking lights, up for headlights and parking.

You can use gauge power #130 for the speedo.

The door switch wiring could be eliminated.

You can use the same power wire for the voltmeter #130, and a ground.

One more (ha!) question--
I assume that if I didn't use the cooling fan connections on the engine harness (#'s 157, 151 & 152) that the Manual Override terminals on the dash harness won't work, right?

How do you connect the Vintage Air heater unit? (electrically, that is)

Dwain, I normally use the fan wires for the relay. #151 would be ignition power to the relay. You can use 157 for the override switch. Remove #161 from the switch and replace with a ground. #157 would then run to the sending unit for the fan. All you are doing is grounding the sender when the switch is on. For the heater you can use the heater wire #127 which is in a 6 wire plug coming from the fuse block which is normally not used.
