John Walsh is recovering
John is one of our CACC (Capital Area Cobra Club) members, and I believe is a frequent poster on this forum. He has sustained a serious spinal injury and underwent spinal surgery Feb 27th. He is presently in rehab at Mt Vernon Hospital in northern VA. Below is a message from his wife Anne.
Good Morning;
I sent an update on John March 16th, but my computer shut down in the middle and I see all that you got was the Subject Line. Sorry.
There are new updates since then, so I'll start from here.
He was transported yesterday at 1:30 to Mt. Vernon Rehabilitation center. It is located in the main hospital on the 5th floor. You go in at the BLUE entrance and go to unit 5B he is in room 532 bed 1. Visiting hours are 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM.
Today he is set up for Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy and they plan on putting him in a wheel chair of course he will be tied in because he can't sit up.
We don't know how long he will have to stay. When he ask that question of course it wasn't answered. All that was said was , we have to wait and see how it goes. I asked and was told NO LESS THAN 2 MONTHS, with a spinal cord injury you never know when or if it will heal. At this time they are not giving me much hope that he could ever walk again.
BUT AGAIN, WE KNOW JOHN ** HE WILL PUT ALL HE HAS INTO THIS **
AND IF THE LORD"S WILL IS FOR HIM TO WALK, THEN HE WILL **
On the other hand he is very depressed at this time and wants me with him all the time. I have to go back to work probably Monday I'm going to go talk to my Boss this morning. This has really been rough for me seeing him just lying in bed unable to move anything but his head and arms. I try not to let John see it so I only break down when I'm not there.
His blood pressure is good, sugar level could be better, his breathing still is not real good. He still has to have oxygen and at night he is on a breathing machine.
Well I guess that is all the updates for now; I will keep you posted. Feel free to post this to the club (CACC) and the home phone.
Oh thank you for the card also I had to show it to him several times and he laughed each time.
Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers.
I did want to ask a favor.
John gets a lot of e-mails from Club Cobra (Classic Roadster II) Forum. His contact is Don Scott or DV. John asked me to send them an e-mail to let them know what is going on and that it will be a while before he is back on the forum. I have been unable to complete this. I don't know John's password and I don't want
to bother him with this. Could you or one the guys do this for me?
Thanks,
Anne
