Sorry to take so long but I just found this thread. Too late for my 2-cents worth, but, you know me!
I mount the solenoid itself upside down just above the latch. This way it only takes a short cable and pulls directly upwards.
I then use "four" very small pressure type switches, one under the rear cowl, under the carpert. This lets you stand on the outside of the car and lets you hold onto the cowl-right behind the seat- in a natural motion then just squeeze. No one can figure out how you opened the door.
The other one is buried under the dash cover and just a touch will pop it when your sitting in the car.
Or... I've used 1/4" square topped switches mounted in the dash, left and right to open either door from the inside.
OK...maybe a nickels worth, Congratulations, you will love em even more as time goes by.
