Questions before I order my kit
I'm getting ready to order my kit this week. One of the remaining questions I had was what steering columnn I should use. CR has their own column that I can order with the kit. I have heard from some people that it is not that great and that I should use an ididit or some other column. Just wanted to know what you recomend. I'm 6'4" so I need one that will tilt and lengthen.

What is the difference between tubular arms and stamped arms. I'm just not sure if that is something I need for a weekend cruiser. If the stamped ones were good enough for a mustang it should be fine for the cobra right. If I was racing or going to the track it would be a different story.

Jared: I will be at the Villa Park High School Car show this Saturday, 5-14. (just east of Anaheim.) I also am 6'4", and my NAF fits me just fine. I do have another friend about an inch taller than me, and he has problems fitting his lower legs whilst driving my Cobra.
Come up if you can make it Saturday, and I will let you test-sit my Cobra.

JarredS.........Talk to Don Scott at Classic RoadstersII. He can tell you what column would be a good option to fill your needs. He will be glad to answer any other questions you may have too. Great to deal with!

Classic used to use the GM Chevette column at one time. You may have heard rumours about that column. Although that is the column that I used and it is ok but not great.
But I think Don Scott and DV changed to a better column. I'm not sure which one. Maybe Don will read this thread and pipe in. Hope this helps.

Dv's column would be the one I would go with now. It telescopes in case of a accident. I used a IDIDIT with the tilt, high beam, turn signals and 4-way built in. Did not hear about the DV column until after I bought. I do like the IDIDIT column however, nice unit.

I was having GM columns built but I have since changed to Ididit. It's a nice column and fit's well in the car.

I used the ididit and it made putting a column in one of the easy things to do.
Great product and they had good tech support.

Don- what is the difference between the tubular arms and the stamped ones. Which one do I want if all I will be doing is crusing.

If I may poke my nose in, I'd say you want tubular just for the fact that they look a lot cooler. Stamped arms will work just fine but they tend to look like the donor car they came from. If money isn't the issue, I think you'll be happier with the tubular arms. Especially when you open the hood to show off the engine bay.

Jared, the stamped arms work great on the street. The tubular arms are stronger and look better but are not necessary. You can also upgrade to the coilovers with the stock arms if you ever want to.

I've learned that polished tubulars and coilovers are "the only way to go".

It all depends on the budget. Tubulars are a $200 upgrade from the stamped. Coilovers are $350 upgrade from stock. If you can afford it. Otherwise the stock are good and used quite a bit.
