I have an original CR that was built by Don Scott, including the 351W, which I purchased from the first owner. Have never had any challenges with CR II on parts, i.e. currently building a new " quiet " side pipe system, seeking advice etc., etc., etc. For me, the CR was an excellent choice.
As part of the sport, recreation, and hobby, the limited production world is not the same as the the major auto manufacturers. Not making any excuses, but that's just the way it is. Bought a high pressure washer having a major well known manufacturer's engine, and I had to wait for parts along with items missing when I opened the box. Regarding build quality, would rather wait than suffer the consequences at a later time.
Fortuanetly for many of us, Don purchased CR and has brought the Company to a much higher standard than the previous owner had ever considered posasible or had the personal desire to do.
While modern techology such as web sites/forums, e-mails etc., are great and serve a usefull purpose there are times when two way communication and mutual understanding are better served by direct private contact. In person is best, but voice communication is still an alternative when the miles do not allow.

Don,
How do you like CRII's 351w. As per my previous post I just received mine and am in the process of installing it. Mine is a 351w, 352 hp & 414 ft lbs of tourqe. I am sure it will run just fine. Yes Don Scott has done a good job as far as I can tell. If there is an issue he corrects it right away.

tcrist,
I got my CR in 1999 and got everything I ordered and good service. ( I must have just made it). I got my 351 from DonS through them - it has the
aluminum heads etc and dyno'd at 405 hp and 409 torque) I now have
16,000+ miles on it and it has run flawlessly. Go for it!
To any others,
I have been given help when ever I asked. His taking over Classic Roadsters
is the best thing that has happened to it. As other have suggested, if one
has any questions or problems - call Don first and ask him, you will get
answers, no bs.

Terry
Don Scott built 351W had been specified by the original owner, which has been an excellent choice. Mild compared to the high horsepower BB or stroked SB, but fits my needs exactly, i.e. " normal " street drving. Also, totally reliable and more than sufficient power at a resonable cost when considering the price of the toys.
Seems odd, but at cruise nights with the hood open , there are those that think it is a 427 due to the fender emblems. Will someday have to change the valve covers, then I would have a replica 427 engine
