crII 460 motor or 302 or 4.6
I have two or maybe three options for my CR, problem is that my wife is gonna drive this car mainly and she wants automatic,
I have a lincoln 460 with c-6,
a 302 with C-4
and a 2003 mustang GT with 4.6 and 5 speed, I will have to trade out for overdrive.
the only draw back I see to the 4.6 is having to put all the smog stuff because calif will want me to smog it to year of motor. I do not expect to be getting one of those SB100 numbers to exempt me.
are there any weight problems with the 460, this car will not be racing, just a sunday driver for momma.
thanks Ray

A 302 with about 350 hp would be nice cruiser. Cheaper and alot lighter than a 460/c6.

I personally went the 351 Windsor route.. THere is a guy in Sonoma with a barn full of 1969 351 motors. Reasonable too.. Then I can have mininal smog requirements and no SB100.

too many choices
Thanks for suggestions, I guess one thing I consider is finances. I already own the 460, and 4.6 and think I have a 302 available. I refuse to invest more into the car than what I might be able to sell it for later so I have to be careful. My target of the have no more that 15K into the car even with new paint etc... I paid 8500 for car so that leaves 6500 to finish it. I do every bit of the work myself so if I pinch pennies and do not go overboard anyplace I can have a good driver for the 15K. maybe I am dreaming. time will tell.

Hray,
I have a mid 60's 289 and a late model 302HO if you are interested. The 302 has the manifold and some wiring but no injectors. Looking at about $250.00 each. They both need to need to be rebuilt.

I have a 460 (stroked to 521) in my CR. Since you already have a 460 you can make lots of power cheap if that is your goal. Check out 460Ford.com.
460 with aluminum heads and intake weighs about the same as an all-iron FE.

Thanks for the info on car hauler, the guy selling me the car has offered to bring it over, (providing his friends trailer is available) for 100$ plus gas. I would be glad to offer the same to your friend. I think the round trip would be about 400 miles for him. Since the car is only a rolling chassis, with body strapped to chassis, and everything else is still in the boxes do not need enclosed trailer. I do have a run down car trailer and can get home with that. only i can't seem to get off work.
chat later Hray
