Classic Roadsters (or Excalibur) Sold At B-J for 60K

427 Side Oiler - looked nice. Still lotsa $ though

That doesnt seem to be very much for all that work.Wouldnt that car be an $80,000 unit. What is that going to do for the repo market?Or is it right on?

Excaliber 01-21-2007 11:37 AM

60K for a Classic Roadster? No way, thats gotta be overpriced. It may well COST that much to make one, but unlikely it will sell for that (except at BJ apparently). :D

Excaliburs (and I know of NONE that have side oilers) generally have 302's and sell for around 25 to 30K.

So which was it, an Excal or a C.R.? Pics? Auction number?

I have recently come to the conclusion, for myself, I don't really care anymore what I've invested in MY car. There are still some expenses I will incur to make it 'my way' and am willing to do that because I want to. When and if it's time to sell, I'll take what I can get, mean while, I'm enjoying my ride!

I actually know of a 91 CR that sold for 63k in December off Ebay.

While I don't doubt that for a minute High-Tide, it's not 'typical' by any stretch! I think Ed had a tough time getting into the 60's with his Double Venom V-10 Classic Roadster. And hey, I'm a BIG fan of Excals and C.R.'s, just taking a reality check... :D

We have moved some for much moor. but ours are not really kits

Excaliber 01-22-2007 10:15 PM

I've seen many examples of your work Bill, very nice, sometimes 'over the top', but always interesting. :D

But were talking used car prices here. No question you can spend 60+ building a custom replica of anything when new, and heck thats just using 'off the shelf' components. Difficult recovering the money one usually spends on his 'hot rod'.

But I know this: You CANNOT buy a used car, any car, and get it exactly the way you want it. The ONLY way to do that is to build it yourself or work with a custom shop, such as Bill E.

...now hard at work making my ERA 'exactly' the way I want it, yeah, I'm buried in the expense.

Check out the new DuPont registry. Getting it the way you wont it, is reair and time consuming but priceles

No need to doubt, nothing in it for me. I agree. But I can tell you I saw the car and she really was unique. Hey, I just bought a Noble so what do I know.....
