Rear coil overs trouble...
Hi,
I've just bought the Don Scott's rear coil over kit, but I've got a problem : The spring situed on rear disk brake caliper, which is used to bring back the emergency brake cable, is rubbing on the shock absorbers body (I precise that my rear disk brake caliper are Ford "Varga"s one.) What can I do ? Thanks in advance guys. Domi |
i feel your pain
I haven't a clue exactly how to tell you to fix this, but I do feel your pain. seems like most of my fellow street rodders order these bolt on parts and find out that they do not always just bolt on. I do lots of rear end changes and upgrades and often find I have to create new places to route that emergency brake system and springs. you will have to be creative and find some way of attaching a piece of angle iron and then a bracket etc.. to hold the spring out away from other pieces. This is the kind of fix that is probally unique to your system pretty much only. A little good ole creativity goes a long way. plus it makes a difference if you are all 'show' or 'go' as to what is an acceptable fix.
good luck. HRay |
What brand of car do you have? Is it a Classic Roadsters? Try giving Don a cal, he may already have the fix for you! Don's customer support is excellent, give him a try!

Panzer, I don't know what those rear disc are but if the spring is hitting on the caliper you may have to drill a new hole for the upper shock mount. You can move it inboard towards the center of the car and that should give you clearance. If it doesn't you may need to move the lower shock hole as well.

hi guys,
thanks everybody for your help, but I solved the problem by this way : I drill a new hole as Don said in his post ! I want to tell you that you're very nice with me, and always ready to help me ! So I'm proud to have a (or maybe the only one) CR in France, and we think here that the CR is very well done, and succeeded... have a nice day, bye Domi |
dan58, we make a full width roll bar with 2 rear legs, is that what you mean or are you looking for a single hoop with forward and rear supports.
