Default Hood scoop

Ok I am done. I give up, I quit ,I am throwing in the towel, I surrender, or whatever it takes. I need to let this motor breath 750 CFMs and exept the dam Holly foam filter it can't be done. I have two and one quarter inch of space between the hood and carb, I have done the nine inch K&N with the extreme flow top. The 17 inch dual quad air filter with home made drop base . Can't lower the motor so we are going to cut the hood. Has anyone done this? And if so what scoop did you use?

Emersom motorsports has agreed to sell one of there larger scoops. Something about "delaminating" my hood thru me off.

I am running a nitrous plate on my car can't make myself give that up either.

Sorry I thought I posted this on the Classic Roadsters ll site. It is a Classic Roadster with a high rise manifold and a nitous plate. This does not leave much room for and air cleaner. Seeme to be a common problem for this make. I have just sent a series of picture to a company called AFE. They manufacture air filters that have a matching exteme flow top and sides . Right now they only manufacture round filters . They have received requests for an oval filter that will fit cobra models.

Ok, save yourself a lot of money. First off how are you fiberglass/body skills. Done this many timesin the past but you need a little experitse in the field. When done it will hardly look like its been touched and all of it will fit. The nitorus plate is a little more than I'm used to, but none the less. Skills, how much rise do you need? Give yourself a positive 5/16" in for motor movement.

Skills=0 ,But I write a mean check.( I know my limitations and body work is one of them). I need a solid 1/2 inch. Two inch oval is less than 1/4 from the top of the scoop.

Ed , does Emerson use Classic Roadster bodies? Their scoops look a little larger.

And what happened to the edit function. I swear I can spell Nitroaus,Noxious,NITROUS !

Emerson's body is very similar to the classic roadster....Bill Emerson will guide you in the right direction.

Yes, I think Bills body has been taken from the CR, one of the reasons I am waiting to find out if His tops will fit a CR.

Scoop- it's up to you but if you want, send me your hood, at the front opening of the scoop how much taller do you need to add? I'll, modify it into primer for you for $130.00 and I'll pay for the materials-you pay shipping. UPS can handle it ground so shipping shouldn't be a killer. Need it wider? Probably not but if it needs to be widened, let me know.

I have a Edelbrock carb and a oval air cleaner that was too high. I ground 1/4" off of the base of and a 1/4 inch off of the top lip of the air cleaner and now it fits just fine. See my gallery page three.

Ed, that is a great offer. It would feel like I am taking my arm off and mailing it to you but I think I can get over that. Can you email me at Bcompy@hotmail.com. I ''d like to get some further details. Like how are you going to do this? Your right ,it does not have to be wider but one full inch higher would be great and not take away from the look of the car.

I have ground the top and bottom off about three air cleaners .The high rise manifold has been milled and replaced with a nitrous plate . Still not enough room .Runs good ,looks good, smacks the hood good too!

Yes, my hood scoop did not clear my air cleaner.

I have a "LONE STAR CLASSIC" COBRA Kit Car.

I have a big block "FORD" 460, with a "EDELBROCK" AIR GAP intake, and with a 800 Holley carb. The air cleaner is the "COBRA" oval style.

We cut the stock hood scoop off, and made it taller, wider, and a little longer.
It still has that stock look to it. Just a little bigger. After the final paint and the racing stripes are on, the scoop should look just fine.

Please send me your e-mail address, and I will send you some pictures on my hood scoop. (Primer only)

My e-mail adress is jfcobra460@aol.com

Thanks,

Jackie Fogg

B, sent you an e-mail. Take a look at the DVII scoop. See anything different.........like facing the wrong way. We did this for the aerodynamics and it worked great. The front nose, naca duct, was not to copy the Viper nose but like the Viper it was made for function- needed some way to feed the two front throttle bodies! Just fiberglass.....
