Huckelberry5,
With the insulation on the straps, tank in place and the straps bolted to the frame their is a minimal amount of space left. This is for expansion of the tank when full. Answer your question?
DV
PS= you are talking about a CR's Cobra-no?

Are the gas tanks standard issue on the CR's? Capacity? Sending unit?

Mine is 10 to maybe 12 gallons. Sending unit is worthless so I have no idea how much fuel I have. So I always feel the need to fill 'er up.

I got my kit in "99 and the tank capacity is 19 gallons, and it came with the
kit. The sending unit only makes it to 1/2 full on the gauge so I watch the
odometer more than the gauge.

Ohio Ken,
That post is 7 years old but thanks for the response...finally, just kidding with you. Since then I have run my car out of gas and it took 14 gallons to fill. Also I found that a lack of a good ground was preventing my gauge to work properly. Apparently incidental tank to chassis contact causes a gauge to read erratically. A proper ground between the tank and chassis solved that problem.
19 gallons sounds good.
Thanks,
John

10 to 12 gallons seems a ridiculously small tank for a Cobra. You must spend half of every trip stranding at the gas station.
I've just replaced my standard Kirkham tank, which I think was around 30 gallons with the original style 42 gallon tank, which will come in very handy for my road trip to Italy in September.

Oh my...I feel like an idiot replying to a 7 year old post lol... I need to check dates more closely! Then again, the info is always helpful regardless.
