Aluminum cowl insert for CR's

I started with a 10" wide aluminum sheet approximately 6' long. In other words "ROOF FLASHING". Available at any hardwar store.

How do you get to the top bumper bolts/nuts after the cowl insert is installed. I can't seem to get a wrench/socket or hardly even my hand in that area.

Underneath with a ratchet wrench .
With or without the cowl aluminum in place!

DV....I think that I know but what exactly is it used for..I would say to direct more air to the radiator, is that correct?? Dave

Looks good.

I had a friend make one for my Cobra, it's one piece & around the entire cowl opening. The inside edge has a rubber seal on it that just slightly rests on the radiator core. Pictures of it in my gallery.

It does make the front end look more professional, especially with an Oil Cooler mounted on top of the aluminum in the lower front end opening.
However it does direct and FORCE a lot more air into the radiator
Win/Win situation.

Randy, I have seen that and it looks good and it does work too. The seal can be bought through "Sof Seal" on the internet.

DV, you're right it does work. All the air as I'm driving mine is being "force fed" so to speak into the radiator core, sort of like an intake on a jet engine. I work around aircraft & thats where I got the idea from.

The seal I'm using is an aircraft part!

Are you talking about a box end wrench with ratcheting capabilities? Do you have to bend it special to get it to fit correctly?

My kit came with a preformed fiberglas cowl bottom .It had to be screwed in and then th
glassed in??

Exactly, Sears or aftermarket auto stores sell them. Hint: put the top tube in first on each side tighten them fairly tight then go for the bottoms. Fairly tight then make sure the bumbers are horizontal then tighten the rest of the way .

They are all that way. That's why I came up with this, oh maybe '82 or so. You still use the fiberglass panels, you just cover them with the Aluminum!
