OOOH, still on the Dolly Sir, Sorry,I'm fast but I have never been accused of being that fast!

Dwight: I know that everyone will pipe in it can be bought cheaper but I bought this one about 7 years ago when the FFR guys were goinog nuts with wheel hop so bad their dashes were coming out!. I had to prove/show them their rear ends were all set up wrong. Shoots "T" lines, around the corner lines,pin points, cross hairs, magnetic base or not and of course a straight line. Wife loves it to hang pictures too!

Very professional, much more than I can use. I got mine from "Paul Mittern at "Professional CHECKPOINT". Mine is in the "INCLO-MATIC" series. I don't even know if he still works there or not? Add: Check Point-1824 Oak St., Yorremce, Ca. 90501

Smile Lazer alignment

ED can you attach it to the trannie yoke and check the center line of the rear end? I want to check the side to side alignment and the pinion angle. What pinion angle do use on a Cobra?

Dwight you sure can. If I am drag rading with a big torque motor I start at -3.5 degrees. If it's strictly a street car (I know we always jump on em at one time or the other high 2's or 3.0 seems to work just fine. If you get clunking or wheel hop (straight axles) then a little more negative may be called for.

DV,

The radiator overflow tank is on its way back to you. You'll have to post a picture when you get it. I gave it to my powder coating guy and said do it up in red. He called and said he was thinking it would look sharp in "transparent" red, so I turned him loose. He says it turned out awesome!!!

Downward Sir from the frame. When torque is applied the axle will want to come "up" - rotate, decreasing the angle. In a perfect world it will go to almost "0".

that is the way I understood it. I have run 3-4 negative for the last 8 years. When I first set it up I got all kind of answers to the same question. I would like to check out my setup because I think I'm losing a few ponies somewhere. Next is new headers and sidepipes. What size headers should I run with a 354 ci motor at 6500 rpms? New cam and throttle body should get me to the 380 rwhp that I think I need.


I did a search and came up with http://checkpoint3d.com/ but did not see the INCLO-MATIC listed. Did I miss something? Would you mind looking and telling me what is close to what you have. I just want to check the alignment, nothing real fancy.

Dwight,
At the time I found this one it was the only electronic one I could find. Cost was just under $500.00. I know of know others, sorry. If you'e running stock side pipes,(I'm assuming they are much like CR's then you are loosing as much as 45 ponies on the Dyno. Huge loss by the way. Headers didn't seem to make much difference, I did build customn header a couple of times and only gained about 3 HP, really wasn't worth the effort. The danger here is going to be on the headers. 1-7/8's seems to be about right 2" and the drop begins. I would call any of the main header builders, not that they make them but they can give you some real info, i.e., diameter, lenght etc. Hooker, Redman, among a few.

If you arent getting any "clunk" on take off, no wheel hop, both tires are leaving close or identical marks on take off, I assume your rear end is pretty close if not right on. Nothing lilke a good burn out about 20' long with new tires, stop in your tracks, get out and "read both patterns. They should be pretty much the same. This little test can tell you if both axles clutches are working in unison, that your diff. is actually locking up both tires, it will even show you if you have a slightly or greater bent axle. Lots of technology on a solid "burn out'.

Promise: If you have 380 RWHP now, new pipes done right will get you over 400-promise!

CptEddie,
Wheel size & mods,
Not much since in doing any mods to the bracket as it may and probably would end up all wrong. Easy to modify with the body on anyway, just have to unbolt the bracket-cut-add-weld.... that's it. This way it can be modified to fit what ever tire and rim you may end up with at a later time. Gee I hate to see you back here next summer!

I've run across a small glitch- Sorry Ed, I never noticed until right now. You're missing the "Motor mount weldments". These are custom made for CR cars. So.........
Does anybody have a pair they aren't using yet? Give me two days with a pair and I will get yours right back to ya. I'll pay shipping both ways of course and no harm will come to yours, I just need two-(Both) because there is a left and right!
Old style book/manual, they are photo 2-13' 2nd chapter.
If you have a photo copied manual they are photo 3-90, page 3-25

Choke cable and trans yoke ordered from JEGS and being shipped to you.

Now I'll try and figure out what we can do about a roll bar.

Don't forget to get the starter motor and let me know if there is anything else you need.

Did the glove box ever show up? Is it going to fit OK?

Also, how did those Australian side louvers work out? I know you said you'd have to do some cutting to make them fit.

I was/wanted to. I haven't heard anything back from him on pricing and lead time to get one made. I PMed him the other day, but nothing yet. I need to get something done pretty quick. DV doesn't have much left to do on the body before he can spray it. The roll bar is the last cuts that need to happen.
