I wonder if the chromer had a clock or even the control arm maker?

Still a problem getting them to this point!
The car.... eeez lookin' guud!
As I mentioned in a PM too I'm almost re-doing things and changing some others since I have the extra time.
Maybe I can send you some via e-mail.
If you don't have your new "Shelby" tool box in your truck-bring it with you!
Was thinking about putting in the 5th roll bar tube???
But since no time to get it powder coated guess it can wait until I talk you into it-Maybe next winter when we put in the SUPER CHARGER!
Now thats a relatively cheap 100 plus real HP!

Well DV.... I made it home! Didn't hit any deer Did hit a lot of rain in SW Michigan all the way to SE Illinois. Man! I love my F150 Pulled the trailer with the car at 75+ and it didn't even feel like the trailer was back there.
I'll get some gas first thing in the morning and see if that why the witch (formally known as the queen) didn't fire up in the shop. If that the case, guess I'll take a crack at resetting the fuel gauge.
Thanks for the late nights the last couple of weeks!!! Take a break, you earned it!!! And I'll see what I can F@%! up in the next couple weeks finishing off the last little odds and ends. We definitely will have to redo the dash in the spring. All the switches on the left hand side will need to be relocated. Need more room for that fat left knee of mine

tinkering with it. I think that is half the fun - finding little things to do to
make it better. Of course driving is #1.

To both of you; well done! Nice to see another CRII hit the streets. I agree with Hi Cobra that it will never be done. You will have the satisfaction of some "wheel time" in between the tweaks.
Had a really nice Sunday yesterday. My wife went for a ride on her horse with her buddies and I went for a 3 hour ride on country roads on my "horse". Try to send us some pics with you behind the wheel with a big smile. For the first week you will look in the garage to see it there and that alone will cause a big smile.

Ya it became quite apparant that you were a wee bit tight in the cockpit. Since I have to pull the dash (In the Spring) to relocate the switches, how about a 1/2 moon type cut on the left side of the dash? Just a thought, match your knee and allow even better ergonomics for braking?
Before you do that please call Bakkers and order another piece of leather for the dash and also the padding if you want the padded look.
Pressure!? Now it's Spring 2010, CAN'T have a NEW Cobra or any cobra in the shop for a month getting modified in the spring time!

OK... Getting caught up after the road trip home late last night.
Well DV. The dash really needs to be reworked and I've found a few missed spots of undercoating and un-buffed areas . So I guess you'll get your 800/1000 wet sanding wish after all. (next spring-ish)
I'll see about fixing the fuel gauge this coming weekend. I also got in touch with my engine dyno guy. He is very confident he can get the engine dialed in and the AOD shifting issues fixed
Here's a few pictures to bring us up to date.
Almost cracked one of these open last night after the long drive home....

Ed,
Never used a polisher/buffer like the one you have listed. #1, Gatriot's name immediately makes my nose twitch, Nothing that they have that I know of isn't very pricey. Not that it isn't good stuff, but they do get a price for their items. ?
Awful small ???? Dual orbital? Might be fantastic for "Glazing" but I don't think I would buff or polish with one from a "scraped/planed start!". Like to try it though.
Brake bleeder looks interesting-very interesting. Need to know if that would work. If it does that would be great for a ONE man shop,

Capteddie: Great looking tool, if you have not used these types of tools before I would suggest you practice on a couple of other cars, not your cobra. Learn what the machine will do under differenct situations. That machine looks to have some high speeds with it. Be careful on edges and jambs. The good thing is it is orbital, that can save the novice from serious mistakes as compared to a straight circular machine.
have fun with it and get back to me. I also love tools but have never used a orbital polisher. I have several old fashioned circular types. I think I like my air buffer the best. that can get right down to nearly zero rpms for edges and jambs. But, if we have a better mouse trap here let me know, I would try anything at least once. I have seen lots of versions of these orbitals but never bought one yet.
I do have one of those 2000/4000 grit orbital DA's that I use to get rid of orange peel. i do love that one.

Ok well... All my searches for orbital buffers are not coming back with anything great. I get a lot of no name $40 to $60 buffers, but not sure if thats what I should use.
Remember I was looking for something that could do a good job at taking lite scratches or swirl marks out. I'm not looking for something to use from " scraped/planed"

Capt: What you got there is fine, I am sure a very good tool. I do know several guys that buff show quality cars with that type of machine. and for the novice I would recommend that machine it will be very forgiving.
'Plus you can get different results with different pads, different foams, different chemicals that you will use with it.
Once I have my cars 'done', i very rarely use another machine on them, I mainly use spray and wipes just to keep them looking good. Once in a while on new paint jobs the clearcoat will sort of haze over, just look a little cloudy.
That machine will assist greatly with removing that haze and take out very fine up to medium swirl marks or dust scratches.
My only caution meant for you to find a old ozidized car, get some cutting compound, polishing compound, finale glazing compound. Use them with three different foam pads and just learn what the machine will do and how much pressure and what the speed is to use it.
I think there are several on line videos available on how to do this type of thing.
You will be just fine with it. Just do not throw some chemical on the car, grab the machine and go to work without first practicing on something that is not so important.
