cpteddie,
Rollbar day finally! Found the heat tubes with the furnace firing away. Thank goodness for Pyro guns! And you only thought they were for headers! All that is left is to trim off the lags and start the measuring/bending process!

Cpteddie,
Since I haven't built a roll bar in years I thought I would start with a drivers side small one, it came out absolutely perfect, it actually looks like a total "Mandrel" bend. Absolutely no kinks or flat spots. This thing is amazing. Not only the first set of figures, and, start of bends, body bends all came out perfect. Even with gauges we could not fit a .10 feeler gauge in between the pipe and the jig
Now if someone wants a roll bar I feel that we can give them a true and proper fitting 2" DOM bar!
And when it comes to the last 100's degrees that ten tone ram is really slowing down. So much for 2" DOM! Wahooo!

Great news DV!!! Right tool for the right job
Now onto the 4 point bar?
Went for my first drive today since my back surgery. Not to far, about 20 miles round trip. I'd say in a couple weeks I should be good to go for a little road trip to your shop.
Let me know if you need anything.
Cheers!!!

Funny your should ask. Due to getting some heat in the shop the hood has taken a back seat until today. I layed down some prelimnary firberglass coats and layed the hood back on to go for the final phase(s). I think you will be amazed, most people wont even know it has been "built" up. In fact I was able to narrow it 3/4 of an inch at the top, the back is almost exactly where it was. The sides are remaining amazingly close to the original contours the front is of course raised up but just enough to allow engine movement, and then tapers back to the "almost" original shape. I'm actually building it around you air cleaner to keep it as low and "in profile" as possible. Tomorrow will tell once I built the final "mold" and fiberglass the hood totally back together. Pretty amazing with a high rise intake! Pictures will follow.
I hope one of your buddies doesn't start sanding on it going all the way down to the inner structure like Huckelberry's budddy did just to see how I did it! Tell them to call me, I'll tell them!
DV
PS- Your 4-point should be done by 7:30 tomorrow night! And I may have figured out a way to beat FR at their own game and still put the two remorte starter boxes in the back???

Cpteddie,
The "rough" bar is done, now the down legs, the welding of the inserts with nuts welded to the inside, the welding of the down leg supports, hood is all "Roughed" in, now to finish the outside and start on the inside.
You gotta get a bigger pill!

cpteddie,
Not much to see at this point. 4-point is half mounted, no down legs, still have to put the lazer on the driveshaft and set up the rear end. Extend all the wiring for you starter system, just a lot of stuff that really doesn't show anything. Taking lazer measurements as we speak to get the down legs in.
Your certainly welcome to come up but I'd wait a couple of weeks and let your back heal a little more and by then their should be something to really look at.
Start of the inner nutted slug for the roll bar:
Inner slug welded in.
Start of the four-point bolted in:
Modified hood ready to be finished...Sorry for all the dirt-this is a working shop!
(If the roll bar looks high...the rear wheels are off the floor five inches.)

The beginnings of the roll bar looks great!!!!
OK. I'll take your advise and hold off on the visit for another couple weeks. Maybe take a road trip over around the end of the month.
Cheers!

Capteddie, I kinda like the open sides to the engine area with the hood attached. Maybe you could have DV build it as a "C-Bucket". Just kidding of course. What engine do you have in there?

Please John. With all the crazy tools he has in his shop, don't give DV any crazy ideas. (just kidding again, DV )
The engine is a 351 stroked out to a 408. All blue printed and balanced. DV keeps reminding me every time we start it, that its going to be a little beast.
Cheers!

A "T" Bucket Cobra? Hmmm? Just chop the fenders off!
Of course it is the perfect time to make it a special "DV" Cobra, a
"DVII-A" - Total tilt nose with/without rookie stripes! Hey it's only time and money! Raise the hood, or raise the entire front end, or...both!

Wouldn't happen to have a 37' USB cord with a small, almost square plug at one end lying around would you? I know, at the office. When / If you can find one.....

37' I don't think they make them that long. I know I have a 16'. Might be able to find a coupler and joint 2 together.
Let me see what I can find (I forgot I promised to get you the cable, sorry)
Stand by...

OK DV,
I think I can get you to 37' on the printer connection. I still can't picture where you might have moved the printer to. Your office in the shop is not that big.
So... Let me know if 37' will get you hooked up and I'll make it happen.
Cheers!!!! ( any new pictures??? )
