Terry, I'm sorry. I thought that was intentional. "Good to hear from you Don" Like a ghost from the past.
Happy Halloween!

Hey Terry,
I have a front pair of bumperettes from Finishline (I know they won't just bolt on)
DV and I were thinking about fabricating a piece that would allow them to work with the CRII spacing. Now...... If you have a front and back CRII set. I'd take them off your hands. That would save DV a little fabrication time. ( he's already got more than a handful )
Let me know how much you want for them and I'll also pay to have them shipped to DVs place. I'm sure I'll be able to sell the Finishline pair I have.
Thanks,
Ed

John,
I never seen it inserted like that. Usually it is a quote and you do not see the whole post. As soon as I replied I looked at the date and relized that it was not current.
Happy Halloween to you and yours. Hay and everyone else too.

Oh boy DV!!!!!
Possible change number 27780
Remember yesterday we were talking about running a wider tire in the rear? Well... At the time Firestone only offered the Indy's up to 275, which is what we have on the back now.
I just checked Tirerack to see what other options there are and look what I found. A new size offing for the Indy Firehawk!!!!
Think they'll fit ??? The rear rims are 15x10 with a 5.5 backspace.

Let me clarify my post above...
I'm pretty sure those wider tires will fit the rims OK. DV, do you think there is enough room in the wheel wells to hold that size meats? I remember you saying a 285 would be OK.
Let me know. It looks like the Tirerack is a little low on stock and at $118 bucks apiece its not a big expense to buy a pair and try them.
Cheers!!!
(crap... this post started page 40 HOLY CRAP!!! 40 pages!!!)

Jerry,
You are correct with the "S" rating. I'm planning on using these tire for all around cruising, so I think the 110mph rating is just fine. I have a set of rear drag slicks already picked out for strip runs.
After all is said and done. I'm hoping to have a set of road coarse tire, drag tires and everyday cruising tires. Since the car is not even done yet and when it does get finished. I will need a good summer of just tooling around to get comfortable with the car. Thats what the Firestones are intended for.
Just out of curiosity, what tires do you run on your car for every day cruising?
Thanks again!
Ed

Over the years I have found that all weather VR rated tires gave good performance/ride in all kinds of streetable weather---the more racy tires (road race) are impossible to keep up to design temperature on the street, and drag tires are just that--burn out to warm them uo, run a few seconds, wait 2 hours , do it again---
On my truck----load range E 10 ply---good for 100,000 miles

I bought a front and rear set of CRII bumperettes from Terry. So you won't have to fabricate a bracket to make the Finishline ones fit. I'm going to have Terry ship them to your place. But I did just order the Firestone 295s for the rear. Looks like you will have to modify the door latch brackets
I should have all the steel you need sourced by Monday. I'll get you an update then. As soon as the tires show up. I'll bring them over and get them mounted and balanced somewhere over by your place.
Cheers!

Capteddie, Your car is looking really great. With the body on/engine in I would think you are to the point that you might be more than a little ready to drive it down the road. When do you and DV think it will be complete? In a way, it will be sad becuse it has been one hell of a journey. I think a lot of us watching the build will be sad to see it end. The emails between the two of you have been most entertaining. The other sad part for those of us who own CR ll's, this may be the last one created. Despite all the negatives once I got mine sorted out it's been a great car that I am proud to own.
Terry, did that guy looking for a soft top buy it?
Jim

Jim,
I have not heard from him. I checked and he has only 10 posts since he joined in 2005, so maybe he is not on here much.

Jim,
Thanks for the kind words on the car. As much as I feel like this build thread has helped and educated others (I know I've learned tons from DV), I would have to say I'm really looking forward to the car being done. It looks like I'm running out of time for driving it this year. Unless we get some nice dry days in early December
Its kind of funny you bring up the "last CRII" issue. DV and I were talking about that last Thursday. I picked the phase 2 body kit up from Don last November, so it is highly possible that I do have the last CRII to come out of Don's shop. I really do hope someone finds a way to keep the legacy going.
Thanks again!!!
Ed

I am not so sure that capteddies is the last crII, I paid for mine 9/21/07 in full, and picked up about half of what I had expected to get on 11/12/07, and my interior and headders were sent to me on 1/20/08 and had to wing it for the last 20% . That is so sad I really like what I did get from Don when I compare it to other kits. Dave

Kawika,
I didn't mean to start any debates about who has the last CR ll. I've stayed pretty close to the build on this thread and ignored a lot of what else is going on out there.
My main thought was; I'm happy with the car that I bought and hate to see a good situation turned bad because of legal disputes.
Thank God for DV and Capteddies frequent posts. I've learned a lot about issues unique to CR ll's. The education has been priceless.
Jim

Kawika, I thought Don was going to provide a copy of the Assembly Manual on a CD/DVD, do you know if this ever done ?

DV,
Steel has been found and ordered. Should ship today or tomorrow latest. Should be coming to you via ABS freight. As soon as they send me the shipping details, I'll forward it to you.
I got the 2" .25 wall DOM and I also got some 1.25" .25 wall for the bumperette tubes. I got extra of both... just in case
Cheers!
