Electrical question #2 for a cobra

Finished wiring today. I have a highway 15 wiring kit,lights all work,but when I went to turn the engine over I just got a click nothing. So I took the starter and battery and had them checked all is fine, WHAT THE HECK did I mess up???? I have a ford 460 engine and a MSD 6AL. HELP!!!!!!

If you have an external starter solenoid, it might close (hence the click), but not contact. A voltmeter on the downstream side would show whether it is contacting.

Another possibility is the lack of an adequate ground path from the engine block to the battery. You need a dedicated ground cable from the block to the frame, since the motor mounts are not conductive. The negative side of the battery also needs to be connected to the frame. Remember powdercoating and paint are insulators. Clean the cable connection locations with a grinder or sanding disk and use star washers on those connections. You can then re-coat with something to prevent rust.

Did you run a ground from the solinoid to a good ground they are designed to be bolted to a metal firewall. WD

Bowing head kicking rocks on ground. Looks up yep it was the ground soleniod. THANK YOU WETDOG my HERO

Somebody tell me why no where in the CR's manual does it indicates that the Ford Solenoid HAS to have a ground-prferebly its own !!!!!!!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRR

It's a good feeling when the fix is simple. Writing a new manual...not simple.
