Don S, et.,al., if you're still reading....
Don S.,
You know me, I am the one to complain! And I'm doing it again. I know your welder thinks he is so good he doesn't need to use the Jigs, .....HE DOES!
You may or may not know the mess I ran into on Cpteddies hood this morning. The steel plates with the 1/4x20 nuts welded and glassed into the hood? Well the nuts had so much welding slag in them I couldn't run a tap through them and when I did the glue let loose inside allowing both welding plates to fall down inside the hood! OK, crap happens.
'You know I cut the door hinge plates right out of the cowel so the doors fit perfect without shims- my choice, but when it comes time to bolt up the hinges to the doors and the holes in the hinges have never been tapped NOW that IS A HEADACHE. I wonder how many guys even know they ARE supposed to be tapped? I wonder how many parts went out without being tapped? When you get stuff straightened out tell those guys in the steel department that you are going to take away one of their coffee breaks!

DV I just looked at my hinges, and it's the same , what tap size is that Ed. Don if you are reading. your guarantee is that if I am not happy with crII parts you will refund within ten day's I AM NOT HAPPY with the quality , service or parts, It's been going on 9 months you refuse to send to me the parts or return a phone call that is over 7 months past due ,so I am not happy with the parts I don't have . If you would have tried to work with me or return just one phone call with the truth of what is happing ,I would have worked out some thing with you , but now that is too late .I want a complete refund for the conv. top and coilovers ,and remainder parts , I est. to be about $3,500.00 or more you know how to get in touch with me , I have been trying to get the truth since last December, you have been hiding and lying to me for 8 months YOU GET A MESSAGE TO ME THIS WEEK ON WHAT IS Happing or your lawer gets more of your $$$ I have never LIED to you!!!!! YOU CAN"T SAY THAT

Kawika,
The holes are for 3/8's bolts. Do not use a cheap tap. All you need is to break a tap off in the hole.
Going after Don, Buddy I wish I could tell/ask to hang on, but I just don't know. As I've told the other guys, write a certified letter to Don, if you haven't, and if nothing happens then it is time to go the legal routes. I'm not a lawyer but I did spend last night at home! I'm sure they will charge you $200.00 bucks or so and tell you the same thing.
Cpteddie; Ed, not to seize !!!!!!! Tapped and John and I are installing, welding your doors in as we speak! Might even get to the hood if the doors don't take to long!

Funny, whenever I complained I got slammed by everyone. Now the truth comes out.

Kawika,
No. I respect that you would ask, very much so, but in all honesty no, I can not in good faith tell you to wait any longer. I would suggest the letter first but that is your decision.
I like many, was truly hoping AND thinking this would all be over in a positive by now. Nothing I can do at this point except help where I can.
Kawika please don't confuse a "Gag Order" and strong attorney advice. The Attorney simply is protecting his client from saying anything that can be turned around, misconstrued, and used against his client. Two major differences. Maybe I am being too one sided here, but Don and I both got caught up in a nightmare that involved the same person. My case was finally dropped when the individual refused to show up in court, but the ramifications done to Don may be irreversible. (?)

WD,
Aren't your hinge plates tapped either!?
The tolerance between the hinge area and the actual hinge is very small. A 3/8's bolt needs to be used 3/4" long and it only leaves +/- 1/8" before the hinge pin. I do not think welding a nut will allow you the clearance or give you the strength needed at this point.
Of all people tell me you do not have a 3/8's 4-sided tap! Maybe it is a good thing I posted this?
Tell you what, if any of you don't have the tools, the ability/knowledge, or just plain to nervous to attempt this, send me just the "U" shaped brackets for your hinges and I will get them sent back out the day after I receive them! You just pay the shipping, I'll do the tapping!

Kawika at this poiint I would start with a well written letter," return receipt" wait for an answer and then if NO answer or it isn't the one you want to hear, then go the legal route. I honestly do not think Don thought this was going to happen, I do know he has insisted that when all is said and done everyone, heck even me, will get his parts or money! But who knows when!

LOL, one AKA is enough
Yes, the holes in your body will not need to be changed at all but still recommend the tubes for the holes.

If you felt "slammed" by me, it was never intended, and feel I would then owe you an apology. What you must realize is that there were those of us who bought from Rutherford and were "slammed" with his business modus operandi. Even before Don bought CR he stepped up and made up (not bound too) for many many shortcomings.
That doesn't speak for the present or the recent history. But, for me, it seemed uncharacteristic of Don considering his actions BEFORE he even bought the company and his actions after buying CR whereby he nearly made good on all of Rutherford's debts to me. Then again, I feared something was awry when he kept Pete on staff. If it weren't for a soft top, which Pete insisted I was "about" to receive, I could not have completed the car without Don's help/guidance. (Rutherford never shipped crucial parts for completion).
This has been an infamous adventure. Between Rutherford, that guy who sold me the kit, that CR representative in Modesto, Don, Pete, and (what was the name of that guy DV?) oh yes, JAY... it is a shame how this has played out, repeatedly.
I am not excusing Don or the treatment you have felt. I blindly hold on to the best in people, and wait until they screw me, few disappoint. Maybe it is a Classic Roadster curse. I do feel sorry for Don, when he bought CR he really put forth a genuine excitement and desire for making things right and producing a kit which transcends all. Life happens and dreams get broken, it can suck all around. Despite Rutherford's perceived enjoyment in screwing people, (by my own pure disbelief), I wonder how painful this must be for Don, as these posts do not describe the Don I once knew.
