Wire Harness
Does anyone have a front headlight harness assembly (Plug in at firewall fwd)
That they want to sell? This is all I need to finish my wiring assembly and since no one is available at CR II I am in desparate need otherwise I will have to do like DV says and get a new assembly from American wire or some after market company and start over. This is what I get for buying a kit many year ago and not realizing everything wasn't there. Thanks |

Another option,not great but an option; IF you want to join the other Il. group up here in my shop, I'll have my guy make one for you and wire it up to work. It may be neat and workable but it wont look "Factory". He is extremely reasonable...(or I'll fire him! :) DV |
Gas40, what do you have upfront??
2 head lamps, let and right turn signals and horn? Anything else?? This really isn't hard, you could do this yourself if you want to spend the time. Individual grounds is key. #16 wire should do it for everything. :D :D :D |

I agrree that I could do it if I new what the socket (plug) that goes into firewall (main fuse block) is from I need that and wiring info of how that coes out of Block the rest would be a peice of cake DV do you know what there sockets were?

What kind of wiring harness is it. Most companies use one they buy. You can go to the painless web site and down load a diagram and use it to finish yours. Get a good multimeter.

gas 40 I also have a crII I paid for last sept. and the wire harness that I was given is an American autowire highway 15 my fuse block calls for #7 for turn sig. and flasher # 15 for headlights. Hope that helps Dave

I agree but what I need is the plug and I don't know who's harness or setup CRII uses that is what I am trying to find out. There are no markings or names on the main fuse block where everything plugs in.

Can you post some pic of the fuse block where the front harness plugs in and of the fuse block?

Gas40,The plug you have or don't have is a singular item from the company that used to make the harness's for CR. It is very doubtfull you will be able to find a singular/working plug.
Gentleman the American Harness came long after Gas 40's harness, they are NOT compatible nor interchangeable.. DV |
Wiring Harness with Pictures
Thanks DV yes the paper work shows this kit was made in 1992 and never
assembled so that is what I am up against with CR II in limbo. was hoping someone new who was doing the wiring harnesses way back then. I have everything else done if I could just find out what style plug I need the rest would be a peice of cake. Help from anyone would be great. That is the female plug for a GM steering column harness. All the front lights, horn etc., go throuogh the column. PAINLESS, DR.k'S, if you can show it to a good GM parts man he may be able to come up with it- OR a junk yard, try early full size chevys, you might even get the spades with it! BUT, you should have one more short harness with male and femal plugs on it to match up to the column? DV |
DV yes I have that part of the plug in. I took the bottom picture to show the type of fuse block that I have. The top picture (kind of fuzzy) is the plug I am missing it has 7 terminals 5 horiz. and 2 vertical That is where I am lost maybe it is some GM as well I don't know for sure

If you give them a call, they have great people ( well, at least they did a few years ago ) that might be able to put you in the right direction. :D :D I'll also check my 368 box, it has all sorts of wiring connectors and harnesses. |

DV Yes I do have the plug you are talking abou that shows on the second picture. I showed that picture to see if anyone recognized what type of fuse block I had the top picture shows the fuse block from firewall side (kind of fuzzy) the left side is where the other plug that I need goes It has 1 vert.
5 Horiz. and 1 vert. for a total of 7 connections. Is Don Scott completly out of connection with everyone so that anyone could find out who made his earlier harnesses? |
