Default Need another volunteer....and Top update!

An oversight on my part has required me to ask "you" for some more help.
Terry, being the great guy he is did send me his entire Top, which is NOW at the canvas shop trying to be duplicated, steel and all. We'll know something Sunday.

However, I missed the fact that Cpt. Eddie did not have his frame mounts. New motor mounts etc., but no motor mount weldments, so, if anyoone has a pair I could borrow for two days to copy them, I'll get them back on the UPS truck in three days. I'll be glad to pay shhipping both ways and no damage/changes will be done to yours at all!

Photcopied manual page 3-25 Fig. 3-90.
Original type manual; page 2-4, Fig 2-13.
Since there are a left and a right I will need to make copies of each.

Thanks in advance fellas! Espcially Cpt. Eddie who will thank you while he gives me heck!

DV,
what brackets are you talking about? I thought the 2 brackets that I had powder coated red to match the trans cross member, where what bolted to the frame and then the motor mounts (new ones) bolted to them.

OK, anyone need a job? Very simple TO&E! Tell me where I put my parts, especially when they are in plain site! At least the Top info is correct

BUT ED, the motor mounts you have are not the ones that belong to your frame mounts. We need part # 1122 from a Energy suspension dealer: http://www.energysuspension.com/media2/5_0MotMt.jpg

So not only was I wrong once by not NOTEING your frame mounts I never noticed your supplied ES engine mounts were of the new varietey!

I REALLY DO NEED TO GET BETTER PILLS!

Default top fastners

They look like the ones on my windshield frame. Where can one get them? Cost?

cobraduke,
I do not know if they are CR/Excaliber only of if they will fit others. I am guessing that CR built them for their tops. These came with my car. I'm not even sure how many is required. I am guessing 4 or 6 per top. DV has my top so I can't check right now. If I find that I have extras I'll let you know. If not the machine shop where I work can duplicate them, no problem. How many do you need. I would believe that DV will be having some made for the tops he is having made.

DV,
Are you having these made or are they an off the shelf item?

Terry

Edit:
According to my top in my photo gallery it looks like I only need 6. I might have a couple extra if needed.

Terry,
Normally you need six. I have found them on the web but they are not exactly right. If you can get these made , fella let me know please. My top people went way south on us!
I told him absolutely two weeks period and then I was shipping your top back-he said no problem, a week went by-nothing- I called and reminded him again. Wednesday he picked it up and couldn't find a manufacturer to make the frames or the bows! (I thought that part was done!) Seems that particular guy ran a full sized manufacturing plant, wanted CAD drawings etc. The first few tops he would make, including our five would have been in the astronomical cost range! Then he callled and asked if he could keep the top two more weeks? Now I have a '40 Willy's at his shop for 10K worth of work, Cpt eddies Cobra for a custom interior, two boats to re-do and I get this treatment. Guys I have seen this scenario over and over again in the last 30 years. I made it very, very clear to him he had two weeks-period. I simply told him to return the top, that it had to go back on the UPS truck. The whining started! Tough crap, we're the customers if you don't want my work, our business then don't tell me one thing and do another!.
Terry your top will be back on the UPS truck tomorrow.

SORRY EVERYONE, IT DIDN'T WORK OUT, BUT I TRIED FOR WHAT THAT IS WORTH- THANK YOU TERRY FOR THE TRUST AND THE INCONVIENANCE. Maybe down the road someday.

DV,
I can get them made, no problem. How many do you want?
Sorry the top did not work out also. When I get it back I will try and draw up the bows myself.
Do you know the dimensions of the roll bar? I drew it up a while back for referance. If I can send it to you, could you check it out and let me know how close it looks.

Terry,
I can get the actual tops made-unlimited, it is the nmanufacturing of the bows and window frames that is a problem. If you can do it then so be it! I do not have a roll bar in house . I love the four point bar as you don't even need the bows, front or back. The roll bar holds everything tight and in place!

DV
The /my top guys son runs a construction business, he was also going to do some minor/major construction for me......now?????????????

Hey, tell you what, lets get a couple of hundred guys together, buy CR II lock stock and both barrells and get this nonsense over with! We'll sell stock- I NEED more quality Cobras! And how many shares do you want?

DV,

Is the top on it's way back? Is there a tracking number?
No pressure, just need to know when to expect it.

Terry

Edit:
DV,
Did they at least make a pattern for the material? That way when I get the bows drawn up I can send just the print to you?

HEY DV if you are involved with a take over of crII, I would be in favor of that, the parts that Don has shorted me is just over $4,000.00, could there be a way to transfer his dept to me in stock? I want to have a win win to end this for every one. people are very interested in my car. how about if you give stock owners a price break or some sort of a comission when they give you a sale. Dave

Guys, I'm just 60 yrs old-last week, or maybe it was two weeks ago?? I'd love to be in on the entire operation and technical part of it, but the way I see it buying it is easy, to pay back what is owed to our family, to pay or supply the parts so there are NO more back orders, to put the company back on it's proper feeet, NO Rutherford!, advertise to let people know we are back the right way, I figure a cool 1.5 million. We've got fantastic mold people, frame people parts people, ALL more than ready to go. The company could be back on its feet, with all back orders and refunds where wanted in 6 weeks time. Two problems, I did the whole thing for over 30 years and worked another job full time and I'm way to broke. I'd hire me in a minute but certainly not CEO. We'll vote on that! Who wants and qualified to be the secretary?
DV
PS, heck I'd take anything over a the bottom line janitor!
