DV: Any experience with Colortune ?
DV , and others, any experience with Gunson's Colortune product or a similar tuning product ? Had not heard of this approach, seems the common method is to pull the plug and visually inspect after the engine is shut down.
Excerpt from Sept Hemmings full page article , page 54
" Colortune is a simple device that can help you adjust the mixture setting of any carburetor for maximum efficiency. It operates on the principle that the most efficient flame burns with a bright blue color, and gives you a way of seeing directly into the combustion chamber of a running engine.
The Colortune looks something like a stunted spark plug and takes the place of a spark plug, but has an important difference. It's center electrode is insulated from the metal case, or jacket, not by opaque porcelain but by clear glass, which allows the light of the flame to shine through. In this way the mixture can be adjusted in real time. Is the flame bright yellow? It's running too rich. A whitish blue ? Too lean . A bright, Bunsen blue, just right. "
