Last Saga of the Body Vibration,

Well it's been a long hard slog but I DID IT! Vibration GONE! It took 2300 bucks and new set of American Racing wheels but it rolls like a dream. I had it at 70mph today with a smile on my face that went from ear to ear. The guy at the wheel shop did tell me that the Cooper Cobra tires that I bought were not in very good "balance". But he did a good job with ride balancing the tires and wheels and it really is amazing. So, all the other work I done gluing the cowling and aligning the pinion angle did not have anything to do with the vibration but it was definitely worth it. The noise in the cockpit has definitely decreased from gluing the cowling. And the performance you get when the pinion angle is correct is awsome. I have absolutely no drive train noise. I have two more projects before paint. I bought a set of Chambered Exhaust mufflers to replace my restictive factory mufflers and I am going to replace the stock differential cover with a bearing cap support cover. Oh, and I put an additive in the differential because I had some growling at tight low speed turns and it cleared it up big time.

Thanks For All Your Help. When I get it painted I will post pictures.

Cheers!

Scott

So Scott, It was the tires that have been causing your grief? Glad you got it fixed.

Thanks for the input guys. The wheels were the actual culprit. They were stamped steel wheels and were way unbalanced. The guy at the tire shop was amazed that I did not have more instability problems than I had. He said the American Racing wheels (Cobra style) that I bought were in perfect balance. But, the tires (Cooper Cobra GT's) were not that balanced. I bought the tires for the look and not for performance. They are good tires but a little hard for the Cobra. The guy at the shop basically said the balance was out but not way out. To get a smoother ride I would have to go to a super performance tire like on a Corvette. I am going to look into tire shaving to get better tire balance but I am not sure anyone does that in Phoenix. Regardless it rides 90 percent better than before and that is great!

For now, it's on to the next project. Mufflers, and Differential cover. I am also looking at Cobra AC pedals from FinishLine. I figure may as well stimulate the economy
