New to the Forum
Enjoyed reading many of Double Venom replys for questions concerning coil over shocks and spring rates. I'm building a Classic Roadster II that had 2 previous owners and never put together.
Are there any adjustable rear upper control arms that would fit the car. The stock one from a 8.8 rear I have appears to fit. Also I'd like to find and adjustable rear lower control arm also.
Thanx

John,
Welcome to the forum.
There are a lot of adjustable upper arms that will work as long as they fit the fox body mustang. I used a Granetelli kit. Good price, work well. As for the bottom, They are a custom length. That is not to say that some adjustable ones won't work, just don't know what would fit. If you have the one's from CR they are very effective if boxed. Good luck with your build.

John,
Welcome,
Check with capteddie. He just had lower adjustable trailing arms made. Maybe he can direct you to his fabricator. If you have any other questions, the group here on CC are more than willing to help. Use the search button. There is a lot of info on this site. Enjoy the build.

John,
I used Hotchkis Mustang II upper control arms. They are adjustable. Here's a link http://www.hotchkis.net/p-587-adj-suspension-pckg.aspx
Like its already been said. The lowers are a non-stock length. If you box them. They are very strong. The problem with mine was. I had to remove the bushings to have them boxed and powder coated, but then I could not find bushing that would fit after that. So I ended up having a set of custom adjustable lowers made by a local shop (not cheap). I bought bushings for the Hotchkis lower arms and had them made based off of those. That way my upper and lower arms use stock Hotchkis bushing and are easily replaceable in either rubber or polyurethane.
Here's a pic of the custom lower arms

Those are cool Ed. Are you saying you could not find the bushing to fit the original boxed arms as supplied by CR? They do not make it anymore?

Curt,
I had no luck finding bushings that would fit the arms that came from Don at CRII. I went as far as taking a digital caliper (see below) and calling about a dozen supply houses/manufactures and could not find a match. I had the same problem with the front uppers and ended up buying new front upper and lower arms from Terry at Great Lake Replicas (overall a much better solution for the front anyway)
DV can chime in and tell you how hard of a time he had finding a bushing for the upper rear axel mount when he found out that the sleeve on one on the axel was cracked. Check this out. I got a 9" ford rear end from Don and it turned out it had (DV correct me if I'm wrong) full size Buick brackets and bushings welded on it.

Correct Sir,
Well mostly, come to find out the ears used on the rear ends where older GM Class "A" body's/frames, i.e.; Buick, Chevy wagons, SS's, etc. (They are bigger than Fords!)
By the way John, "Welcome", great to have you join us.

Thanx for the Warm Welcome
Great to know so many helpful folks out there. I thought that may be the case with the lower control arms. (Just hoping something off the shelf.) How 'bout one more... (or two questions)
I'd like to use a Flaming River Steering column and was wondering about length. A local friend used the Chevette and it appears to be 35" long. If I follow Flaming River and only have 3" protruding from the firewall (As they specify) it would take 2? section lengths and 3 universals?
The history or my car started out in Florida to Maine and now New Hampshire. The body doesn't have the "cut outs" in the door area as all the other Classic Roadsters I've seen. Any idea? The original purchase order is from Dec 1991.
Again great welcoming and appreciate the assistance!

Your right about the flaming river column. It sticks out past the fire wall around 3". Thats what I used on mine. We (really just DV ) ended up using 3 U-joints and a heim joint. I thought I had a picture of it completed, but I guess I don't. I'll be at DV place next Saturday and get some good pictures of the steering setup. If you think of anything else, just let me know and I'll shoot photos of that also. As far as the door/body cut outs. Your going to have to get DV to chime in.
Cheers!

If the doors are not extended like most/all of the CR's, are you sure it is a CR not a CMC? If you have some pictures that would be great. Another guy was on here a while back saying that his was a CR. He found out that it was not. I believe DV helped him out on finding out the manufacture.
